The body didn’t move, nor were there any wounds, so exhaustion wasn’t setting in, meaning all pain was purely being replaced by sheer strength.

To an almost excessive degree.

“Haha! I… Keugh!”

Clearly, there was an overflow of strength in the body.

The thought of stopping was gradually growing nonexistent.

But that was all.

The overwhelming fear and pain, as immense as the overpowering strength, were refusing the body to move itself.

“This, this is… what…”

Eui-hyun hesitated, sitting down on the ground and looking at Seonghyun with bloodshot eyes.

“Why? What’s the matter?”

“This, this…!”

Even though Seonghyun’s expression wasn’t clearly visible under the dark sky, the atmosphere alone conveyed what kind of expression it was.

“This… what the…!”

Now, the pain was relentless, to the point where even sitting down was difficult.

Certainly, as much as the immense power was surging forth, it was impossible to utilize it when the size of the pain was so overwhelming that it was hard to bear even in a complete state.

“What the…? Is my power overwhelming me?”

At first, when Seonghyun realized that Eui-hyun lacked lethal ability, he was honestly a bit disappointed.

But now, it didn’t seem as bad as he initially thought.

“Ugh, that bastard Kim Seonghyun…!”

Eui-hyun could only use the surging power as nothing more than just clenching his fists.

The pain was so intense that his hands trembled, and when he clenched the ground, the concrete beneath his grip seemed to crack with the force of a file.

“Seonghyun, hasn’t he come to his senses yet?”

“Tsk tsk, what’s the use of that ‘overwhelming’ power? It’s completely useless.”

Inhwan and Sang-yeon were also chiming in from behind.

They had already learned about Seonghyun’s ability, but the opponent’s ability to turn pain into power.

They had been worried, but their concern ended so anticlimactically that it seemed pointless.

“What did you say earlier? We beg for your mercy?”

“Ugh…!”

“I can’t say those words. Let me phrase it a little differently.”

Seonghyun crouched down to Eui-hyun’s eye level, who was on his fours.

“Beg for your life.”

Eui-hyun looked up at Seonghyun with even more bloodshot eyes than before.

Whether the cause of the bloodshot eyes was pain or anger, but one thing is for sure: there’s nothing he can do.

It was a completely different sight, he wondered if he had been like this from the start.

If those three behind were to see Seonghyun’s expression and hear his words right now, what kind of expression would they make? A tremendous sense of dissonance surged, as if they were completely different people.

‘This is… a healer…?’

This inexplicable, immense pain, a similar overwhelming pressure.

The person in front of them right now was not just a simple support.

There was no sign or indication of any action.

Not even a flicker of a finger; he just stared at him.

‘I really, really could die.’

Despite Seonghyun’s implication that he wouldn’t directly kill, the thought of dying kept creeping into Eui-hyun’s mind.

Still, there was one piece of good news for Eui-hyun.

Whether he instinctively felt the threat to his survival or not, he couldn’t hold out any longer and immediately passed out.

“You held out longer than I thought.”

Of course, even though there was the ability to turn pain into strength, he was only a first-year academy student.

“What should we do about this?”

Before they knew it, Inhwan approached and prodded Eui-hyun, who had lost consciousness, with his foot.

“…Just leave him.”

“Aren’t you guys going for a gate right now?”

“Well, what about you?”

At Seonghyun’s question, Sang-yeon just nodded his head and soon turned his body.

“Let’s go.”

“W-W-Wait…!”

Seonghyun also quickly turned his body to leave, but Sung-wook grabbed Seonghyun.

“Thank you, Seonghyun.”

“Thank you.”

Sung-wook, who had shown a passive attitude until now, had a noticeably different look in his eyes compared to before.

Although he didn’t defeat Eui-hyun himself, the fact that he didn’t back down indicated that he had already made some progress in his growth.

“But how did you know?”

“About what?”

“How did you know Hwang Eui-hyun was going to come for me…”

After leaving the hospital, Seonghyun immediately called Inhwan and Sang-yeon.

He gave them Sung-wook’s address and told them to contact him immediately if they saw Hwang Eui-hyun.

They followed Seonghyun’s words without further question, and as Seonghyun expected, they found Eui-hyun nearby and contacted him.

“I just saw him as I was passing by.”

“…”

Seonghyun didn’t elaborate further and left with just those words.

Now, Sung-wook and Eui-hyun were the only ones left.

“…”

Honestly, he wanted to do something to Eui-hyun, who was lying there, but he knew that if he did, he would become just like him, so he stopped himself.

However, Sung-wook didn’t bother waking him up or contacting anyone else.

“Sh**stain.”

With a grimace, Sung-wook left with just one word, feeling more hollow than ever before as he headed home.

Seonghyun checked the window he had forgotten about.

[A person with faith has been added.]

“It must be Sung-wook.”

Moving with the intention of adding a person with faith in that situation was definitely not his intention.

A situation where no thoughts came to mind.

The reason for handling Eui-hyun like this could also be selfish.

While it wasn’t intentional, Sung-wook felt that he had some responsibility for the way things turned out.

[A certain number of individuals with faith have been obtained, unlocking a new ability.]

[Unlocked: Lighthouse]

‘Lighthouse?’

[Lighthouse: Healing is possible wherever the target is; for those with faith in you.]
