Seonghyun also obtained information about the third year from Sung-wook.

When asked how he found out so quickly, Sung-wook explained that Hwang Eui-hyun, who was confident that he could become the academy representative after unlocking his new ability, had given instructions in advance.

‘I guess we don’t have to worry about that anymore.’

Sung-wook’s expression brightened day by day, making it seem like it was okay to stop caring about it now, even though he was worried that Hwang Eui-hyun might hold a grudge.

If anything happened, since Sung-wook had the faith, all he had to do was to heal him.

‘I guess I can finally breathe in relief now.’

The time left until the next battle is about three weeks.

The only thing they had to do until then was to go out and hunt some monsters.

“How about we start heading to different gates?”

“Are you suggesting we form a three-person team?”

Sang-yeon didn’t seem too keen on the idea as Inhwan suggested.

“What are you talking about? Even if there are three of us, the Association won’t give us permission. We need at least five people.”

Even with five members, it didn’t mean we could tackle every gate for suppression, but we could go after gates that other guilds hadn’t applied for or ones that hadn’t been assigned yet.

“Not a bad idea. The wolf-type monsters there seem too easy now.”

Since only mental-type monsters were known to appear deeper into that gate, there was no reason to delve further.

“Are there any gates left unassigned in 4th grade?”

“There should be quite a few. From Grade 3 and up, the better guilds take them, but from Grade 4 onwards, the weaker guilds usually take them.”

Inhwan explained other reasons why there were more Grade 4 gates left besides this.

“Do you remember when the heads of each country’s associations gathered for a meeting? It was when our country’s status ranking rose. The reason for that meeting was because there was an increase in Grade 3 gate appearances.”

Inhwan continued, showing articles on his phone to support his statement.

“That’s what happened to our country, and as a result, better guilds started requesting mercenaries or support from weaker guilds to handle Grade 3 gates that they usually dealt with.”

Ultimately, many weaker guilds were supporting Grade 3 hunters or hiring mercenaries, resulting in a situation where there were quite a few Grade 4 gates left unattended.

“Judging by your abilities, Seonghyun, Grade 3 shouldn’t be too much of a stretch… but we’re not quite there yet.”

Monsters, in general, had a higher tolerance for pain than humans.

Considering that Seongheon lacks killing abilities, ultimately, he would have to finish the job himself, which meant there was a possibility of insufficient physical abilities starting from Grade 2 gates.

“Still, do you think they’ll grant us the rights? We’re still first-year academy students.”

“They probably won’t have much choice at the Association. They know there are quite a few gates left with not much time until the overflow.”

As Inhwan said, as the manpower of the guilds responsible for Grade 4 gates dwindled, the number of gates left unattended naturally increased, and as a result, there were more gates nearing overflow.

While many non-guild hunters were joining in, they couldn’t expect much, as they hadn’t chosen not to join a guild but rather couldn’t get in.

“How about we apply?”

Inhwan had a look of excitement as if he had already secured rights for Grade 4 gates.

“Still, it won’t hurt. Let’s wait until the academy supplies us with equipment before we go.”

“Ah! That sounds much better. Our equipment is coming out next week, right?”

“Yeah.”

The difference between having equipment and not having it was truly overwhelming.

Just looking at the pendant of the disciple that Seonghyun currently possessed, it enabled him to heal multiple targets at once.

‘I should have at least one piece of combat-related equipment.’

Of course, he had entrusted the matter related to this, but it wasn’t common for equipment to be made exactly as requested.

“Shall we go to the usual gate today then?”

“Yeah, but let’s try facing monsters alone until we’re ready to tackle Grade 4 gates.”

“Sounds good.”

As they made plans for today and the future and were about to start their classes, a sense of unease suddenly crept in.

‘But… was there really an increase in Grade 3 gate appearances at this time?’

Although the memories from a long time ago weren’t very detailed, Seonghyun couldn’t deny the creeping unease that gradually became more pronounced.

“Hey… Let’s postpone today’s hunt until tomorrow.”

“Huh? Is something wrong?”

Seonghyun, who had never been one to change his mind so suddenly, was met with expressions of concern rather than dissatisfaction from Inhwan and Sangyeon.

“No, it’s nothing like that. I just remembered something. I can go tomorrow. Let’s head there first thing in the morning.”

“…Okay then. I hope everything’s okay.”

“Well, nothing out of the ordinary.”

After finishing today’s classes, Seonghyun headed straight home.

While it was important to proceed with the suppression as soon as possible, it didn’t seem like things would work out well with such a complicated mindset.

“Son? You’re home early today?”

“Yes, I thought I’d take it easy for a bit.”

“Good idea. Will you have dinner?”

“Yes.”

His younger sister hadn’t returned yet, so Seonghyun went to his room and opened a book.

“It just doesn’t make sense, no matter how much I think about it.”

As he thought about what had changed from before, Seonghyun realized that the people who should have died were still alive.

The status ranking of South Korea has risen.
