“Mmm.”

I woke up, stretching my stiff body.

I blinked a few times and reality returned.

My whole body throbbed like a sore muscle.

I hadn’t dreamed about the portal.

The sun had already set and the room was dark.

No wonder. I’d fallen asleep as soon as I’d gotten back to the guild after clearing the portal.

Quietly opening the door, she found Lee Gyeom sitting at the living room table.

A coffee cup in front of him, he casually swiped across the bright pad screen, displaying an emotionless face.

For a moment, I observed his side profile.

Yes, the Lee Gyeom I knew always had that indifferent and chilly face, as if he had no interest in the world.

Nevertheless, undeniably handsome.

Click.

When a soft sound echoed, Lee Gyeom’s head turned.

His sharp gaze softened gently.

“You’re awake?”

“Yeah.”

Gently scanning the situation, I took a seat on the couch.

Lee Gyeom started tidying up the place where he had been sitting.

“Aren’t you hungry? It’s been quite a while since dinner.”

Glancing at the clock, it was already well past eleven.

Nodding in response to Lee Gyeom’s subtly inquisitive gaze, I agreed.

He nonchalantly headed towards the kitchen.

After rummaging through the refrigerator, he took out bread, vegetables, and ham, laying them out on the Irish table.

Perhaps he was planning to make me a sandwich.

I absentmindedly stared at his hands.

There was something peculiar and chilling about the atmosphere, as if I wouldn’t be startled even if a bomb went off at any moment.

“Moa.”

The voice calling my name was much more subdued than before.

I knew it was coming, and I braced myself, body to tense.

Lee Gyeom, leaning slightly on the edge of the table, stayed silent for a moment, as if suppressing something, then moved his hands.

“I heard you went out today and got caught up in a portal.”

There was a hint of murder in the air.

It was clear that Guseobok had reported to him.

Well, I expected it, considering he’s been keeping tabs on me, but…

‘Is it really going to escalate to this extent?’

Silently, I scrutinized Lee Gyeom’s face, and a peculiar conviction settled in.

Lee Gyeom was suppressing Lee Moa’s awakening ability.

For some unknown reason, he feared my sudden and unpredictable actions.

The suspicion was clear, but the clues were lacking.

I waited in silence, holding my breath, for Lee Gyeom to speak.

Given the unusually eventful day, it was impossible to gauge the extent of what he might have said.

If he happened to mention something he shouldn’t have, both Gu Seo Bok and I would be in a difficult situation.

“It’s good to go out, it’s all good, but…….”

“…….”

“Just don’t go anywhere too dangerous. You know what I mean?”

Judging by his attitude, he didn’t seem to speak explicitly about monsters or fire incidents.

If I had to recount them one by one…….

‘Forget about me, I wouldn’t leave Gu Seo Bok alone.’

Moreover, the current Lee Gyeom seemed more pleading than angry, somewhere in between.

That was exactly it.

The atmosphere was peculiar.

The seemingly strong façade was about to shatter like delicate glass.

Suddenly, Lee Gyeom, who had placed a sandwich on a pretty floral plate, gently placed his hand on my head.

“I just want you to grow up healthy and strong.”

He smiled slightly and began to stroke my hair warmly.

The sensation tugged at my heartstrings.

Oh, yes. I had overlooked something.

To Lee Gyeom, Lee Moa was so precious, his only remaining family in this world, that it was worth turning the world into an enemy for.

But precisely because of that…

“…..”

I didn’t say okay, I’ll be careful.

Lee Gyeom stared blankly at me for a moment, then met my eyes before gathering his belongings and heading into the room.

The door clicked shut, and I released the breath I had been holding.

‘This can’t go on like this.’
