Chapter 15
Elaria glanced sideways at him as he sat beside her and lifted his teacup. Even when they had been dating, he had been fairly affectionate, but when they drank tea, he had at least sat properly across from her.
But yesterday he sat beside her, and today he sat beside her again.
Suppressing the restless flutter in her chest, Elaria slowly savored her tea. In the meantime, he set a slice of cake filled with figs in front of her.
“You like this, don’t you?”
“Yes…”
Even as she took a bite of the cake, Elaria kept stealing glances at him. He quietly curved his lips and tilted his head slightly, meeting her gaze.
“When you act like that, it means you have something you want to say.”
“…How did you know?”
“How many years do you think we’ve been together, Elaria?”
At his words, something suddenly rose to her throat. Then why did he say that they should break up?
She could distinguish between cold Lucian and gentle Lucian, but he had always been difficult for her. She felt that he allowed her close, yet he spoke so little that she could never tell what he was thinking.
As she quietly chewed the cake, he reached out, wiped the cream from the corner of her lips, and said,
“I know what you’re curious about, but I can’t answer you.”
“…Why?”
“If that were possible, I would have done it long ago.”
Still unable to understand what he meant, Elaria unconsciously furrowed her brows. He put the cream from his fingertip into his own mouth, then lightly tapped the spot between her brows with that finger.
“You can think about it yourself.”
At his cool tone, Elaria wondered if gentle Lucian had become cold Lucian again, then tilted her head and asked,
“Does what I think even matter?”
She had never voiced her opinions. Rather, it was more accurate to say she could not. She had lived her whole life that way. No one had ever asked what she thought.
So why did he keep asking for her thoughts?
He looked at her quietly, then answered slowly.
“I’ve always been curious about what you think.”
Hearing from him the very words she had once kept to herself felt strangely unsettling. Her throat suddenly felt dry, and she hurriedly drank her tea, only to burn herself.
“Ah, it’s hot.”
“Let me see.”
He took her chin and pulled her closer, then slipped his finger into her mouth. Elaria’s eyes widened, and she had no choice but to open her mouth. The sensation of his warm body temperature pressing down on her tongue made her squeeze her eyes shut.
“Does it hurt?”
At his question, Elaria shook her head.
“Then the inside of your cheek?”
The finger that had been pressing her tongue moved. As his touch pressed gently against the inside of her cheek, her long eyelashes trembled. It was not the kind of contact he usually showed, and she was so startled that she did not know how to react, only keeping her mouth open.
As his finger moved inside, saliva gathered and slowly spilled out.
“Mnh…”
Embarrassed, she tried to pull her head back. Then suddenly her head was held in place. Startled, she opened her eyes wide and found his face right in front of hers. His fingers were threaded into the hair at the back of her head, holding her firmly, while his other hand continued to touch inside her mouth.
“Lu—”
She tried to call his name, but his finger pressed down on her tongue, making it impossible. As she looked at him with flustered eyes, his long eyes curved smoothly.
His finger moved back and forth. The sensation felt strangely similar to when he touched her lower body, and heat rushed through her. Elaria trembled slightly and simply kept her mouth open.
It was hard to believe she was doing something so intimate with him in broad daylight, sunlight pouring in, but since everything had felt unfamiliar since last night, she could only accept it.
“Elaria.”
She liked the way he said her name. Even if it was not a nickname, she liked the act of him calling her and the sound of his voice itself. At the low resonance, her heart pounded wildly, and the part of her that had held him the night before tightened and relaxed on its own.
“The first night isn’t over yet.”
Murmuring softly as if whispering, he withdrew the fingers from her mouth. As they slid out, his long fingers grazed her palate, sending a strange shiver through her.
“Ah… hng…”
The moment his fingers left, she gasped for breath. Saliva spilled out, and she hurried to cover her mouth with her hand, but he was faster. Without the slightest hesitation, he lowered his head and licked the saliva from around her lips.
