Time passed very quickly. It had been spring when she received the proposal letter, but before she knew it, midsummer had arrived. And of all times, it was the rainy season, and on the day of the wedding, rain was falling steadily again.

In the bridal waiting room, Elaria looked out the window with a worried expression. The madame of the most famous Scarlet Boutique in the capital, who had come to assist with her preparations, chattered excitedly.

“It seems His Grace was very impatient. Usually, people avoid holding weddings during the rainy season. He must have wanted to bring you in as his wife as soon as possible.”

Knowing the words were meant to lighten the heart of the heavy-hearted bride, she quietly lifted only the corners of her lips. The reason her heart felt heavy was not the rain outside, but Lucian’s attitude.

He hadn’t come to see her even once until the day of the wedding. Everything related to the ceremony had been handled by Daniel instead. Elaria was worried. What if he had sent her the proposal for some other reason?

She had thought he regretted breaking up with her, but she realized once again how mistaken that assumption had been. That was why she could not smile even as the wedding proceeded.

As she tried to hide her gloom, a servant from the ducal house came and spoke.

“Excuse me, it is time to move now. I will escort you.”

Recognizing the face of the head maid she had seen several times when visiting the ducal house, Elaria nodded.

“I understand.”

As she rose, the boutique madame hurried over and straightened her gown. The white dress suited for a bride looked very good on her, especially with her deep violet hair. The madame’s eyes shone as she carefully examined the bride she had created.

At first glance, the bride seemed plain, but upon closer look, she was not. She had simply dressed plainly herself. She was like a blank white canvas. Depending on what colors were added, she gave off a completely different image.

Her deep violet hair and light brown eyes that seemed to hold honey blended together beautifully. Along with her elegant coloring, her large eyes with slightly lowered corners were reminiscent of a rabbit.

Her nose was small, but the bridge was high and the tip was delicate. A small beauty mark at the pale tip drew attention. Her pink lips, unlike her eyes, had slightly upturned corners, making her look as if she were always smiling.

A face where cuteness and elegance coexisted.

The madame felt she could understand why the duke had proposed. Letting out a quiet sigh, she noticed a subtle sensuality in Elaria as she lowered her gaze. Of course, she also felt proud that she herself had brought out all of these qualities even more.

Elaria had assumed the wedding would naturally be held indoors, but as she walked down the corridor, doubt began to rise. She had visited the ducal manor often enough to know that this path led to the outdoor garden.

Since she hadn’t heard a single word about the venue, she hurriedly called the head maid.

“Samara?”

“Yes, Madam.”

“……”

At the form of address, Elaria’s mouth closed for a moment. The head maid, who was looking at her with a puzzled expression, asked,

“Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

“Oh my! Is the dress too tight?”

The boutique madame beside her exclaimed in alarm. Elaria quickly added,

“No, that’s not it. It’s just…”

The head maid followed her gaze, then seemed to understand something. With a faint smile, she spoke respectfully.

“You’ll see when you get there. Master has prepared a great deal.”

“…Lucian himself?”

“Yes. He said he wanted to revive the memories you share together, Madam.”

At the head maid’s words, both joy and gloom came over her at the same time. Why was it something even the head maid knew, yet he had never told her?

She was still confused because she could not understand his feelings, or his intentions. Even so, there was only one reason she hadn’t refused his proposal.

Because she still harbored feelings for Lucian.

That was why, even though she did not know what he had been thinking when he proposed, she did not want to refuse him. Even if it meant ignoring the difference in their stations.

The place they arrived at, following the head maid, was indeed the outdoor garden. She had walked there with him several times before, but the flowers in the garden had changed. Where red roses had once filled the space, purple clematis now bloomed everywhere. They were flowers that should have long since withered at this time of year, yet they stood in full, splendid bloom.

Above them, as if there were a transparent barrier, the pouring rain curved and flowed to the sides in a circular motion. The guests beneath it were not soaked either. Looking just as fascinated as she was, the guests tilted their heads up to watch the falling raindrops.

As she stood blankly staring at the sky, she sensed someone’s presence beside her. Turning her head reflexively, she saw Lucian for the first time in a long while, and her breath got caught in her throat.

His atmosphere had become even sharper than when they had parted. As if he had lost weight, his jawline looked more defined than before. Tilting his head slightly, he held out his hand and quietly called her name, as if asking for hers.

“Elaria.”

After letting out a trembling breath, she placed her hand in his palm. Then she stepped onto the wedding aisle with him. Her heart pounded as if it would burst.

Only then did the reality of marrying him finally reach her.

Lucian quietly watched as her cheeks flushed pink, then turned his gaze forward without a word. The two successfully completed the wedding, and the guests spoke about that day for a long time afterward.

They said it had been a romantic, magnificent, and luxurious wedding, made possible by the use of expensive magical devices.
