Chapter 47
The only thing that stopped Herman as he tried to slide his fingers inside her was that single, sharp cry.
Whether from shame or something else, Esina’s face flushed red all the way to her nape as she hesitated before speaking. She didn’t want to do it here.
Only then did he notice their surroundings—a messy, disordered alleyway. Trash strewn carelessly about, filthy water staining the hem of her worn-out dress, and the stench of rot.
Under normal circumstances, he would’ve recoiled in disgust and avoided such a place entirely. The fact that he had dragged Esina here first, without even registering the filth, was absurd.
“Come here.”
Finally, Herman grabbed her wrist and pulled her deeper into the alley, pushing open the door of a building that looked old and shabby from the outside.
He didn’t want to hold Esina in a place like that, either. He didn’t want her to have memories like that.
So, he brought her here instead—one of the secret annexes discreetly provided by the information broker’s master. The most luxurious and beautiful room in this alley.
A grand, high-quality mahogany bed, no less extravagant than those in mansions, awaited them. The carpet beneath their feet was delicate and elegant, while scented candles burned softly around the room, their flickering light casting a glow on the exotic decorations placed throughout.
The moment Herman opened the door and stepped inside, he stripped Esina bare without hesitation, ignoring everything else.
Now that they were hidden away in a safe place, he could finally relax.
It’s fine.
Esina was still in his grasp, after all. She was even curious about the illegitimate child he was rumored to have left behind. Even if she had tried to meet another man out of disappointment, seeking revenge…
All of that just meant she still cared about him.
…She had to.
“H-Herman…!”
Esina obediently dripped and moaned under his touch.
“Ngh…”
Her pale body, illuminated by the candlelight, glistened. Everywhere he had bitten and wet her, her skin shone. Steam seemed to rise from her sweat-slicked body, creating an illusion of heat.
Her chest and lower belly, marked with handprints and teeth, looked utterly adorable. Herman reached out, spreading her like wings, and rubbed her teasingly.
“Mmm…”
Touching her, finding it cute how she got wet, I caressed her, and she naturally heated up. The way her inner flesh quivered as if in anticipation was quite enticing. Knowing well how tight she would get if I pushed inside, my c**k strained painfully hard.
“There, there…”
When I rolled her c**t, her inner walls trembled immediately, clenching tight. It was as if she was blatantly tempting him.
It almost felt like she was still trying to enchant him. Like she still had feelings for him.
‘If that’s the case.
Then it doesn’t matter. If Esina still has feelings for me.’
That thought occupied his mind, and the moment Esina moaned and looked up at him—
“Herman…”
And in the instant she called his name, slicing through the shimmering air—
It felt like an eternity, a moment when the world seemed a little more beautiful.
“……”
When he felt something he didn’t believe in surge up from the depths of his chest—
“Ha.”
Suddenly, his rationality returned, and a cold awl stabbed into his heart.
‘I thought it was nonsense.’
I didn’t want to think we were clinging to such shallow emotions.
Their relationship was, after all, based solely on a rational contract—one that would never be broken.
And yet, Esina was—
As a sense of crisis rose, words spilled out uncontrollably.
“You know, Esina.”
“……”
“Feelings between us are meaningless.”
The moment he said it, Esina’s eyes widened. It was as if she was asking what kind of nonsense he was spouting now, but to Herman, it only looked like he had struck a nerve.
It was bittersweet. The fact that Esina still liked him enough to be hurt by such words. But then, the moment overlapped with her resentful gaze, and the sharp realization from earlier brushed against his chest—
Herman slowly descended to her crotch and whispered.
“Don’t hope for anything.”
That’s how it had to be.
The moment he said it, it felt like swallowing a needle-pricked cotton ball. A lie. His own screaming chest felt unfamiliar.
A lie.
