Chapter 100
“…!”
Seeing his red eyes widen, my little surprise event must have been successful.
True to being a man who loves shopping and wanted a second wedding, Cassion put his heart and soul into choosing my dress, but I never showed him the finished dress until the end.
Since we were going to dress up nicely anyway, I wanted to surprise him with a “ta-da” on the wedding day.
“Asilia…”
My plan must have worked perfectly because Cassion’s eyes are starting to well up.
“Don’t tell me you’re crying?”
Among the few people who had been mechanically clapping with puzzled faces wondering why we’re having a second wedding, the Second Prince, now Crown Prince, muttered in disbelief from the front row.
Oh my, I better hurry before anyone sees his tears.
“Cassion.”
Thanks to that, my bridal march was rather brisk and quick, but everyone was too stunned by Cassion’s completely different behavior and expression compared to the first wedding to comment.
Quickly reaching him, I subtly turned him toward the officiant to hide his tearful expression. I want to keep this cute face all to myself.
‘Stop!’
While the officiant was conducting the ceremony, Cassion was busy looking at me with his reddened face, and I was busy mouthing “stop” to him.
Unlike before, the officiant wasn’t just someone hastily brought in, but a proper one, though they still ended up being like wallpaper. I feel a bit sorry.
“You’re so beautiful, Asilia.”
“I’ve always been beautiful.”
“Yes. Yes…”
But Cassion was more important than the sidelined officiant and the bewildered guests.
“When I was young, I thought I was unlucky… But perhaps I was saving all my luck for this moment.”
“Are you happy then?”
“Incredibly. I’m the lucky one.”
Perhaps because of our whispering, the ceremony seemed to have shortened a bit. I couldn’t hear the other words clearly, but the moment the officiant pronounced “Now for the kiss of-“, Cassion pulled me in and kissed me.
“How romantic!”
I can hear the Baroness, among the only noble couple invited, cheering. And the Baron trying to calm her down.
“Congratulations, Madam!”
After stroking the back of Cassion’s neck, who didn’t want to let go, I turned to the guests and saw Jenin blessing only me.
When I wrote about having a second wedding, rather than being puzzled, she smiled saying she was glad to see my wedding that she had missed. Getting blessed by the original female lead at my wedding with the original male lead.
Next to her, keeping some distance from Jenin, Lorang was clapping.
After the final incident with the First Prince and Empress, he had been in shock, but with our full support and the intense interest of the capital’s people, he was able to recover safely. Thanks to that, he regained his usual charming demeanor and resumed his work as a painter, looking quite refreshed now.
“My sincere congratulations. I’ll be sure to send a gift that includes my gratitude for all you’ve done.”
“It’ll take something quite special, Your Highness.”
Anyway, the Crown Prince, representing the guests, approached to offer his congratulations once more. In a good mood, I unintentionally said something that might have been a bit rude, but he just laughed heartily.
I was reminded of my first impression of him on the day of our contract marriage, when he introduced me to the back door. This is how he really is.
“You’ve been through a lot because of me, Duchess. As you’re my friend’s wife, I hope you’ll view me more favorably from now on.”
And he’s not a person slow on the uptake. He must have known that I didn’t really support him, but rather helped because Cassion supported him, because he was Cassion’s comrade.
Now that he’s become the Crown Prince and will someday be Emperor, I wondered if he was trying to win me over, since I’m essentially Cassion’s leash as a Duchess. But that’s something to watch out for in the future.
“Don’t pressure Asilia.”
“Oh my, don’t glare at me like that. It’s your wedding day, and I’ve said unnecessary things. I’ll be on my way now.”
But before I could say anything else, Cassion stepped in to protect me. I’m not sure when he started putting me before the Second Prince, but it felt good, nonetheless.
“Make sure to enjoy it properly this time.”
“If you know of any good territories, can I keep them in mind?”
As we were about to leave for our second honeymoon following our second wedding, the Crown Prince waved with a grin. I suppose I can take that as permission?
We need a proper ducal territory now, after all. Staying only in the capital’s ducal residence feels too tied to the imperial family.
“Congratulations!”
“Have a good trip, Madam! Your Grace!”
“Please don’t come back injured this time.”
As we board the carriage after leaving the venue, the ducal household members each offer their congratulations. They were the ones who found the second wedding and honeymoon most ridiculous, yet also the most accepting of it.
They’ve seen up close how Cassion dotes on me, so perhaps they just thought we wanted another trip together.
“Hurry up, Cassion.”
I pulled Cassion in as he was giving a sharp look to the physician who had made the last comment, and the carriage door closed with a thud. Now it’s just our space.
“If I face such breathtaking moments every day, I might die, Asil. Couldn’t you give me some warning?”
Our first casual honeymoon was really just a journey to find Lorang, only honeymoon in name. This time, we packed everything Pia prepared – clothes, accessories, and all necessities.
We might have a fashion show every morning while touring our destination. Of course, like with the wedding dress, I haven’t told Cassion what I’ll be wearing.
“If you don’t want me to become a woman who’s killed her husband twice, try to endure it.”
Giggling, I removed only the elaborate hair ornaments that were difficult to lean against. Even as my elegant wedding dress became disheveled, Cassion just gazed at me with enchanted eyes.
“Let’s tear up our contract, Asil.”
Cassion gazed dreamily at me and the large wedding ring on my hand before his expression shifted to one of determination.
I wondered why, but it seemed this man was fixated on something peculiar again.
“Oh, why? Let’s keep it as a memento.”
It was just a contract in name only that broke down, starting with the skinship clause not long after we made it. In a few years, we might laugh, looking back at how we met this way.
“It’s already full of broken clauses anyway. It’ll be fun to look at later.”
“No. Just seeing your face is enough joy in life. Let’s tear that thing up.”
“My, who taught you to be so smooth with words?”
“Asilia. Let’s tear up the contract. Okay?”
“I’m going to show it to our baby, too.”
I meant it as a joke to the serious Cassion, but his face turns red again.
Already seen everything there is to see, yet he’s getting fired up about baby talk? Even though he’s learned a lot from me, he’s still the innocent Cassion, after all.
“Let’s try.”
“…Try what?”
I deliberately stood up from my seat and sat next to him instead of across from him.
It was possible because the carriage was so luxurious and spacious. The hem of my dress invaded his thighs, but he just stared at me with his crimson face and eyes.
“Try to conceive our child during the honeymoon.”
“…!”
“You’d like to receive our territory before the baby is born, right? I’d like to raise our child somewhere a bit away from the capital. Mmph.”
His lips crash into mine more passionately than at the ceremony. I gladly respond to him as he repeatedly runs his fingers through and smooths down my loosened hair, while using my other hand to draw the curtain over the small carriage window.
“Focus, Asil.”
“My, you beast.”
But Cassion seemed unsatisfied that I was doing other things while kissing. His low, growling voice sent shivers down my spine.
Be careful of the teeth, Cassion. There should be drop earrings as big as marbles on my earlobes.
“I gave you the leash, after all.”
As I received his descending kisses, I finally burst out laughing. That’s right. While people might call him the blood-crazed duke, I’m the one holding his leash.
“During this honeymoon, I plan to let that leash loose.”
Just as my head was about to hit the opposite door of the carriage, his large hand cushioned the back of my head. Taking advantage of that moment, I kissed his neck and jaw, then looked up at him with a smile.
I closed my eyes as I felt his lovely red eyes consuming my vision.
