Perhaps it was the chandelier, but the golden waves seemed to sparkle within his red eyes.

‘Bayern. Could he really be from Bayern?’

Emilia’s heart began to race again. She had to trust her father.

Only then could she escape the fears that plagued her.

There was no mistake in what she knew. Even if he was from Bayern, what she believed could still be true.

Emilia’s green eyes were consumed by fear.

‘No, he can’t be from Bayern.’

But conversely, could she be certain that the Loren family had not committed any wrongs?

She could not immediately answer that. She couldn’t even assert it in her heart.

To clear her mind of these thoughts, she changed the subject.

“Miss Dahlia is attracting a lot of attention. It’s only natural with her striking appearance, much like Your Grace’s.”

“For example, her golden hair.”

“A color not seen in Bartsch.”

“There used to be many in the past. It seems someone has prevented their lineage from continuing.”

Emilia’s eyes widened at Mikhail’s words.

“Does Your Grace know about the Bayern family?”

“I do. Better than anyone.”

“…Why?”

“The piece is over. I’m glad you didn’t step on my feet today.”

Just as the music ended, he stopped dancing. He placed a light kiss on the back of her hand, and his gaze was cold.

Despite his stern face and the icy demeanor, the light from the chandelier seemed to respond only to him.

Something must have happened to his hair.

Emilia hurriedly left the dance floor. She pushed through the crowd and made her way to a secluded spot.

She felt that encountering anyone else might reveal her troubled state.

She fled. Whatever she was running from, she needed to escape.

Finally, after passing through the corridor and reaching the open garden, she exhaled deeply.

She wished the night sky and the darkness of the garden would hide her.

But the shining stars seemed to watch over her.

Dahlia observed the two of them.

Thanks to her striking appearance and the splendid dress, Dahlia attracted attention wherever she went.

Dahlia von Bayern. That was her real name, but she introduced herself differently here.

“I had no idea the Duke had such a beautiful cousin.”

“Too kind. It seems that Duke Heinrich’s family’s features are quite noticeable here.”

“It’s been a long time since golden hair was seen in Bartsch.”

Dahlia’s lips twitched slightly. Their comments implied that golden hair from Bayern was no longer visible.

‘If they knew I’m one of those lost Bayerns, they’d probably give me a second look.’

She felt a pang of nausea. Her appearance was quintessentially Bayern.

So it was only natural that people’s reactions to her were as they were. She hoped they would associate her with Bayern.

She wanted them to recall the forgotten Bayern, her family, the lost honor, and everything that had resurfaced. She wanted to awaken their awareness.

This was the reason she had dared to reveal herself.

She wanted to see the ones who had annihilated her family.

Dahlia’s gaze shifted to Adrian, who was seated.

Black hair is a symbol of misfortune. Look at that night-sky color.

Darkness clearly dominated and consumed him.

Dahlia cursed Adrian silently.

‘May you struggle desperately before death. May you endure the sorrow of losing everything. I hope you are isolated, dried up, and left to die without anyone’s help.’

As Dahlia kept her gaze fixed on Adrian, someone from the crowd spoke to her.

“Quite a distinguished person, isn’t he?”

Turning her head, she saw a woman with silver hair smiling softly.

‘That woman from before.’

Seeing the same purple eyes as his, Dahlia blinked slowly.

‘The vulgar ones have sown their seeds too extensively in Bartsch.’

It was bad enough they were on the throne; now they were flaunting themselves.

The dirty and despicable bloodline of the Jalliar seemed to be spread all over Bartsch.

Dahlia didn’t respond to the woman’s comment. Although she already knew that the woman was Adrian’s cousin, she pretended not to know and acted nonchalant.

Eventually, it was Leah who spoke first.

“…I’m sorry for the late introduction. I’m Leah from the Chevron family.”

Dahlia smiled and introduced herself only after Leah had spoken.

“I see. I was wondering who you were. I’m Dahlia von Heinrich.”

“Oh my… you share the same surname as His Grace.”

“Yes, though we’re cousins, my parents passed away, so Brother took me in as a member of the family. Isn’t he a kind brother?”

“I think so too.”

Leah was quite overt in showing her interest. Perhaps she thought that, as Adrian’s cousin, she must have a special relationship with him and thus should make an effort to be friendly.

But Dahlia only grew colder in response.

“You seem very interested. Unfortunately, my brother already has a partner.”
