Chapter 242

“Lady Luther disguised herself as His Majesty and went to meet the Duke.”
“From the Duke’s perspective, it was probably a necessary choice. He wouldn’t have come out to meet her without a plan.”
Adrian’s head ached. He thought he could handle things on his own.
But it was too late. He ran his hand through his hair but couldn’t act rashly without knowing how things would unfold.
He planned to keep his final strategy for last.
“What shall we do? Detain Lady Luther in her room?”
“Don’t let her out an inch. Not until further orders.”
“What about the railway inauguration in two days? They say the royal knights have arrested so many people that there’s no room in the prison.”
“Release them all that day. We can’t keep up the pressure forever.”
“…All of them?”
“Yes, release them.”
Adrian laughed with madness in his eyes. Whatever happens, it would be something to watch.
He planned to free all those imprisoned for crimes.
Adrian’s instinct told him something would happen on the day of the railway inauguration.
He rubbed his chin and leaned back in his chair.
Placing the newspaper on the desk, he looked at Etrez.
“Do you want this royal family to disappear too? I wonder if you think that’s right.”
“No, I don’t. I’m the captain of the royal guard.”
“Putting that aside, what do you think?”
Adrian rested his chin on his hand and looked at Etrez.
Seeing the gaze, Etrez immediately lowered his posture.
“My position hasn’t changed.”
“Better than the King’s shadow.”
Adrian smiled at Etrez, glad to have at least one ally, even if his loyalty might not last long.
“Then I’ll ask one thing. How far would you go for me?”
Adrian asked with a smirk.
“For the King, I’d do anything.”
He made a satisfied expression, grabbed Etrez’s shoulder firmly, and whispered in his ear.
“Then you’ll know what I say and carry it out alone.”
Etrez swallowed nervously.

One day before.
Those waiting for the railway inauguration wore puzzled expressions.
“We want the royal family dissolved!”
Suddenly, people shouted the slogan and rose up everywhere.
As if planned, the riots quickly filled the city with chaos.
“Down with the king!”
They started rushing from the city toward the castle.
Guards hurried to stop them, but the small riots quickly grew as many joined, making it hard to stop.
The nobles hurriedly boarded carriages to protect themselves, heading for their manors. Some shouted slogans while heading to the castle.
“Quickly inform the castle.”
Madam Kerren hid her body and covered her mouth.
“Quiet! Are you really saying that after seeing this?”
“But Lady Luther knows nothing! Don’t you forget? We’re on their side.”
Madam Kerren grabbed the Marquis’ hand with a pale face. If they fell, their own position would be just as vulnerable.
“So send a letter at least, okay?”
Madam Kerren pleaded. The Marquis furrowed his brows.
“We?”
“…Yes?”
“Did you think we’re on Lady Luther’s side? Don’t say such things anywhere! They might mistakenly think so.”
The Madam’s eyes widened.
“Understood?”
“Huh, but… isn’t everyone aware of that?”
“We already expressed the Kerren family’s position to the Duke. Of course, we must take some responsibility, but we can’t destroy the entire family.”
The Marquis led his wife into the carriage.
In truth, it wasn’t just the Kerren family. Others changed their stance after seeing the situation. The Ablio family had long since backed out.
“Didn’t Lady Luther request knights?”
“We sent knights, so we didn’t break the promise.”
They did what was necessary to survive. Being branded a traitor was better than death.

“It’s begun.”
At Kartho’s words, Mikhail nodded.
“How’s the situation with the royal court?”
“Seems fine. The moment people enter through the castle gates, they’ll protect the two.”
“Your Grace, all preparations are complete. We’ve received signals from the other knights to move out.”
“We’ll leave soon.”
Dressed in uniform and sword at his waist, Mikhail left his office.
The Duke’s knights waiting in the courtyard awaited orders.
Mounted on his horse, Mikhail addressed the knights.
“To the castle.”
The Duke’s knights followed behind him.
As they reached the castle, voices filled with anger could be heard.
Thud! Thud!
The sound of striking iron gates echoed loudly.
People carried large logs, ramming the unyielding castle gates.
“Open the gates at once! The Jalliar dynasty is finished!”
“We won’t acknowledge Adrian von Konrad as king! Step down!”
Torch bearers threw fire inside, causing panic among those within.
Thud! Thud!
Mikhail stopped his horse.
