Chapter 19
At the end of the day, night arrived as it always did. Bezel lay wearing the clothes Eden had bought him, staring up at the white ceiling.
Unlike Hell, where there was no distinction between day and night, the human realm grew quiet when night fell. It was an eerie, unfamiliar silence.
In some ways, Hell was a much more lively place than the human realm.
No, since it was the realm of spiritual beings that were neither living nor dead, perhaps it would be more appropriate to say it was full of vigor rather than full of life.
In any case, Hell was bustling enough to fit the definition of pandemonium. [1] From the streets came the sounds of fighting demons overflowing with fighting spirit, and from the corner alleyways came the moans of demons who had caught each other’s eye.
Of course, the Third Palace where Bezel lived was much quieter than other places, befitting the residence of a high-ranking demon. Even so, Hell was still Hell. In that place where there was no distinction of time, demons ran around busily all day long.
Lower-ranking demons ran around on errands, and high-ranking demons buried themselves in paperwork, devoted to their duties. For Bezel, who had lived in such daily life, nights in the human realm were unbearably boring and dull.
Ah. There was one way to make this long night interesting.
‘It’s mealtime.’
Bezel swallowed the saliva that had pooled in his mouth and got up from the mattress.
He’d caught and eaten the parrot that morning, and had lunch and dinner too, but he was still hungry. Foods like these from the human realm were nothing more than snacks. To get the nutrients that would truly help him, he needed to consume the life force of a larger creature.
Leaving his room, Bezel crossed the living room and headed toward the bedroom where Eden would be sleeping. He paused in front of her door, listening, and heard the regular sounds of her breathing.
Bezel grabbed the doorknob and turned it carefully. Click. But unlike yesterday, today the bedroom door was firmly locked.
“How adorable.”
Bezel recalled the little incident from a few hours ago. Eden’s reaction when he asked if he could kiss her had been quite refreshing. She had turned bright red and ran away. It was completely different from the demons who used every means possible to somehow reach him.
Predators each had weapons for catching their prey. Demons too were born with great strength and alluring appearances to seduce humans or their own kind.
Bezel was particularly superior among them. Golden hair and purple eyes that appeared blue or red depending on his mood.
Demons would look at his sharp, well-defined features and say it was as if all the light and darkness of the world were contained within his small face. Some even praised him as the greatest masterpiece created by the Evil God. There were those who, enchanted by this compelling appearance, would line up hoping to sleep with him just once.
But while others would wash themselves clean and wait for him naked and still not be worthy, Eden had locked her door and hid like a frightened animal.
Perhaps because it was a reaction he had never seen before, her behavior was more amusing than unpleasant. But that didn’t mean he had any intention of obediently playing along with this little game of hide-and-seek.
Bezel felt around the small keyhole in the doorknob with his hand. Just in case, he tried his fingertip, but the hole was ridiculously small compared to his thick fingers.
“Hmm.”
His purple eyes narrowed. If he couldn’t solve it with this body, he could use shadows.
His shadow, which had been stretched long by the moonlight coming through the window, writhed and shifted. Black tentacles rose from the floor and crept toward the handle.
One tentacle grabbed the handle while another made its tip thin and sharp, sliding it into the hole.
After a moment, the lock clicked open with the sound of metal engaging. Bezel gathered the risen tentacles back into his shadow and opened the now defenseless door.
Just as he had heard from outside, Eden was breathing evenly, fast asleep.
Was it because he remembered last night’s kiss? Just approaching close and looking at her face, he was already getting hard.
Bezel undid his pants without hesitation. His naturally large c**k was already half-hard, the head peeking over his underwear.
He rubbed the exposed head with his palm, then unable to bear the tightness, pulled down his underwear. His massive member sprang free as if it had been waiting.
