Chapter 80
Using that demon to get himself injured was already out of the question. Now that Eden had actually gotten hurt in his place, he had no choice but to do exactly as she ordered if he didn’t want to lose the few points he had already scored with her.
[Tsk. I even closed my eyes so you could harm me, yet you couldn’t even lay a finger on me.]
With his index finger on the trigger, Bezel sent a telepathic message to Sena. The bright blue eyes that had been glaring at Eden widened in bewilderment.
[H-how can a mere human send a telepathic message…!]
[Don’t look this way.]
At the firm command, the eyes that had been slowly shifting sideways stopped.
[Stay still.]
The shadows gathered at Bezel’s feet coiled around Sena’s legs.
[Wh-what is this!]
Sena twisted her entire body, thrashing, but the tentacles wrapped around her ankles would not budge. The moment she lifted her gaze from the ground and met his eyes, Bezel pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Fresh blood layered over Eden’s blood already on his face. Unlike Eden’s, these were cold droplets without a trace of warmth.
Bezel wiped the blood that had splattered on his lips with the back of his hand. He stuck out his tongue and licked at the remaining blood, but as expected, demon blood tasted terrible. It was one of the reasons he did not devour lesser demons, despite cannibalism being common among demons.
“Wh-what in the world….”
Even with half her head blown off, Sena stood with her eyes wide open for a long while. Perhaps her thoughts had been blown away along with her head, because she could not make any sense of the situation.
‘That man…how did a mere human send a telepathic message? No, what was that ability just now?’
In that instant, her vision flipped. Her field of vision shot upward toward the ceiling, then toppled over, looking at the wall upside down.
Thud. Roll, roll, roll.
Only after rolling dizzily across the floor did Sena realize it. That her head had been severed and rolled away.
“Huh? Wha…?”
As Sena dumbly asked again, Eden knocked the headless body over with a light tap and approached her. Bright red drops of blood dripped steadily from the sword in her hand.
“What? You’re still alive even with your head cut off?”
Ah. Now Sena understood. So, she had her legs bound by the man and had her head cut off by that Hunter.
“Aagh! Aaaaaaagh!”
Once she had fully grasped the situation, horrific pain surged through her. Sena screamed and wildly shook her head side to side.
Both the side of her head where the bullet had hit and her neck that had been sliced by the sword burned as if her raw flesh were being seared by fire. It felt as though someone were carving her flesh into tiny pieces with a heated blade.
“Cowards! Attacking at the same time, both of you!”
Even at her furious scream, Eden remained completely unbothered.
“That’s just how it went.”
She casually tossed out words that weren’t even an apology and muttered to herself.
“It’s really fascinating. A demon that would take me days to catch on my own can’t even move a muscle in front of Bezel.”
Bezel. Even while writhing in agony, the somehow familiar name caught Sena’s ear. Come to think of it, the man’s face looked familiar too.
‘Have I ever seen a man like this in the human realm?’
No. There was no way she would easily forget such a striking face, so it was not someone she had seen in the few years since coming to the human realm.
‘Then that means it’s a face I saw a long time ago, in Hell.’
As she fumbled through hazy memories, a sharp blade plunged into the floor right before her fading eyes. Rolling her eyes upward, she saw Eden had driven her sword into the floor right in front of her face and was standing there leaning on the hilt.
“Bezel, I’m leaving the sword here, so if she tries anything funny, just stab her with it. Don’t waste any more bullets.”
“Where are you going?”
“To get Julien.”
Sena glared at the woman with bloodshot eyes.
“If you’re going to leave, finish killing me first! You’re going to kill me anyway!”
The effect of the consecrated weapons was devastating. The wounded areas hurt so badly that she found herself thinking she would rather die than suffer any more.
“No. There’s someone who wants to kill you even more than I do.”
“You mean that Julien brat?!”
“Yep. That kid pulled it off. That bastard nemesis of mine probably doesn’t even know my name.”
Eden straightened up from where she had been leaning on the sword and tapped Bezel on the shoulder.
“Keep a close eye on her while I go get the kid.”
“Yes, understood.”
Bezel nodded obediently. He didn’t forget to flash a reassuring smile, as if to say she could count on him.
Eden turned around without hesitation and walked out of the house. She seemed eager to deliver this joyful news to the child that his sworn enemy had been caught, and that the kill was his to take.
