“But Your Grace, this is plain theft.”
“It’s fine, Viscount. Who would have thought such a young girl was the culprit? I’ll let it pass as a single mistake.”
His demeanor had softened, unlike before. He held up the jewel and showed it to Marie.
“And above all… this ruby brooch seems to suit this young lady. You may keep it.”
Everyone present except Edith reacted with shock at Kaidros’s unexpected generosity and the suddenness of his following words.
“What? Giving such a costly item to a mere maid?!”
As the greedy Viscount flustered, clearly reluctant, Kaidros hardened his expression and looked down at him.
“I appreciate beautiful things. Beautiful things deserve something worthy of their radiance beside them. In my view, the rightful owner of this jewel is that maid.”
“Haha… if that is what Your Grace says… then so be it…”
The Viscount had no choice but to acquiesce, forcing a smile and expressing admiration for his decision.
Only Edith found his actions beyond absurd—they made no sense.
‘This is truly unbelievable. What on earth is he scheming?’
To set up this situation and then suddenly offer forgiveness and a gift was incomprehensible.
Sensing Edith’s suspicious gaze, Kaidros flashed a subtle, characteristic smile before turning his attention elsewhere.
As Edith followed his gaze, she saw Marie’s face flushed crimson, looking at him with an expression that seemed almost lovestruck.
In a way, it was only natural. For a mere commoner to receive an expensive jewel from a handsome noble prince—anyone would be prone to misunderstanding.
Though she couldn’t fathom why he had done this, she felt she had glimpsed a hint of the darkness hidden within his motives.

By the time the incident concluded, evening had already fallen.
Since Kaidros began staying at the estate, the Viscount frequently invited him to meals, and it had become routine for the three of them to dine together.
Except for the very first days after her transmigration, Edith had subsisted on dry bread and soup while living here. But since his arrival, the meals had become lavish and rich beyond comparison.
After dinner, wanting to enjoy the lingering warmth of spring and to aid digestion, Edith strolled through the garden.
Kaidros walked beside her, sensing the natural mana, and spoke.
“You seem curious about why I did what I did.”
Honestly, Edith was curious about his future plans, but she didn’t expect this capricious dragon to readily share anything with her, so she held little hope.
“You are wise, Lord Kai. I’m sure you’ll handle my revenge well.”
At Edith’s answer, Kaidros chuckled with satisfaction. As if dusk were just before nightfall, the evening light illuminated her navy-blue hair.
He gently stroked it and brought a strand to his lips.
“Interesting things will unfold from now on. You can look forward to it.”
Her life in the estate, which had been nothing but dreary because of him, had already improved greatly. And now he was promising even more amusement.
Though she feigned indifference with a nonchalant expression, a childlike sense of anticipation swelled within Edith, making her heart itch with curiosity.

Edith unfolded her notebook and began writing down the events that could unfold from now on.
Because of her poor memory, she had regretted things many times before. Now, to avoid repeating the same mistakes, she felt she had to write things down.
She decided to record not in this world’s script, but in Korean, which only she could understand. This was to ensure that even if someone in this estate, where everyone disliked her, found the notebook, they wouldn’t be able to understand its contents.
Carefully picking up her pen, Edith recalled the most important events and began listing them one by one.
‘The game’s story progressed with a beginning, development, twist, and conclusion each season…’
In spring, she met most of the characters. In summer, they became enthralled by the Saintess and began gradually coveting her.
In autumn, the ending branches finally appeared, leading to crimes like kidnapping, confinement, and drugging by male leads with high affection. Winter was the climax, where the Saintess’s sanity shattered under the strain, serving as the final season for reaching the story’s conclusion and seeing the ending.
Since she was inevitably getting entangled with the romance targets, she wanted to at least be careful around the remaining one.
He was the last character to appear, making his entrance during the summer Hunting Festival event.
The Young Duke of Blackford…
This young duke, with his SM tendencies, was the Crown Prince’s long-time close friend by association. He was away in spring for the imperial extermination campaign during the monster breeding season, so he couldn’t be met early. He would appear by attending the summer Hunting Festival, where he’d meet the Saintess.
‘But the problem is that their first meeting event is so very “Blackford”…’
