Chapter 70
As I walked, looking up at the sky dyed orange, I heard footsteps in the distance.
“Keisha!”
“Alfie!”
As expected, Alfie came running towards me and hopped in front of me.
“It’s been so long!”
“Yeah, how have you been?”
“I’ve been good! And you, Keisha?”
“Well, I’m… doing okay.”
Alfie. I’ve been on the edge of life and death. Have you heard of Leviathan by any chance? I might encounter it in a few days if I’m lucky… or drown before meeting that monster if luck isn’t on my side.
I forced a smile as Alfie, bouncing around, asked with a lack of strength. Just then, Alfie spotted Loro and Ren passing by in the distance and shouted even louder than before.
“Lolo! Ren!! Over here!! Here!! Gather around!!”
“Hey… Alfie? I’m kind of busy right n…”
“Let’s go eat a delicious dinner!!”
“Alfie, I’m really…”
“It’s going to be so much fun!!!”
While Alfie was bouncing around, Lolo, who had rushed over at an alarming speed, matched Alfie’s steps and shouted.
“Is that Keisha? We’re all here. Exciting! Let’s go!”
Ren, who had been following quietly behind, looked at me and gave me a wordless greeting. I waved back. Thank goodness Ren was there. We followed Alfie and Lolo in silence.
Over dinner, we shared various stories. First, Alfie’s recent updates. He mentioned that he learned a magic spell in his practical magic class that doubled his walking speed. However, when he went for a night stroll at that speed, it resulted in a massive collision with mosquitoes on his face.
Next, we heard about Lolo and Ren. Recently, they received numerous calls from colleagues at the temple. Apparently, there was a curious person whom Theo found interesting at the Royal Academy, and they were curious about who that person was. Back at the temple, Theo had gathered the priests and told them about the ball he attended and met a very interesting student.
The information spread that the student had recently issued a 7th-level Judgment on the Tower, leading to a betting game at the temple to guess the identity of that student. Of course, I pretended not to know.
‘If I say it was me, I might not make it back to the dorms tonight…’
But Lolo vowed over and over again that she would find out who it was and befriend them. I could only smile awkwardly.
Ren didn’t say anything…except to say that he had gotten those calls too. I get it, Ren.
It was late by the time we got back to the dormitory. And the big day was just around the corner.
‘So Luke told me that Rai was looking for the mermaid horn too…’
But the sub-quest that popped up said I had to get it and take it to Rai, so I’d have to get it before he does. …Was that even possible? It seemed like a mission unlikely to succeed.
[A potential conversation partner has been detected within the allowable range. Would you like to add them to your list?

- (Unknown)]
…What?!
‘You mean an unknown elf has appeared near Alucina?’
I added them without hesitation. My heart was pounding. A new elf. Not Ventus, not the Monarch, but a fairy elf in Aucina? Who could it be?
Even after adding to the list, I couldn’t see the name of the contact. After thinking about it for a moment, I opened the message window with (Unknown).
[Hello?]
I sent a message. I waited for a while, but there was no response. Maybe they weren’t a ver friendly elf…
I wasn’t expecting much in the first place, so I was about to give up and walk away.
[(Unknown): ?]
Oh, what the heck, I got a reply!!
[Hello! Nice to meet you! I’m Keisha.]
I quickly replied and waited for a moment. Again, there was a buzzing sound, and a response came.
[(Unknown): My name is… What do you see?]
Huh? Wasn’t that something they set themselves? You could tell just by the strangely cute tone that something seems a bit odd… I guess I should respond for now.
[Me: It appears as ‘Unknown.’ Could you share your name? Are you in Alucina right now?]
I replied excitedly, and a few moments later, it beeped again.
[(Unknown): It’s a secret.]
…Huh?
It seemed that my new elf friend was a mysterious character.
