Chapter 30
Mina also wrinkled her nose deeply. The thought that she might have to make contact with not just one but both men made her vision go dark. Still, the fact that she had managed to avoid the enormous obstacle of actual s*x was something, though it was still unfair all the same.
“If the condition of the manifested person is stable, it is possible to gradually determine the Name pair through such contact. Acts that directly mix saliva, such as kissing, or pressing bodies together are the most effective. And when making contact, it is better to do so with as much skin to skin contact as possible without clothing.”
It was better than going all the way, but it still foretold a difficult road ahead. Mina let out a sigh. Hugging and kissing someone like that? That was hardly easy either.
“But as parents with a daughter, how could we allow such a thing! Your Majesty, this cannot be permitted. Mina’s Name has already manifested, but His Highness the Crown Prince’s has not. It would be best to block contact between the two even now and proceed quickly with Rose’s marriage.”
Duke Wittgen protested with a deep frown.
“Ah, of course, this method would only be a secondary option in case treatment with Grand Duke Tessen proves completely ineffective. If treatment begins with one side first, we can observe the progress.”
Startled by the fierce protest, the young court physician hurriedly clarified. Glancing briefly at Rose, he began sweating nervously. Her murderous gaze looked as if she might tear him apart right there. It was certainly not the expression expected from the lady once called the ‘pure flower of high society’.
‘What? With such a perfect opportunity, you expect me to hold back? That’s ridiculous.’
Leopold unconsciously frowned. He disliked every single suggestion the young physician had made. Why suggest kissing naked instead of simply using the most certain method? What kind of nonsense was that? Now was the time to claim the rights he had never enjoyed during their long engagement.
While Leopold was silently making up his mind, that familiar unpleasant and sinister voice spoke beside him.
“Don’t worry. Obviously the Name will turn out to be mine. There won’t be any need for you to trouble yourself.”
Leopold frowned at Leonhardt’s outrageous remark.
“Ha! What absurd confidence. What will you do if it turns out not to be yours?”
“I’m saying that as a subject of the Empire, I’ll personally step in and take care of it so that the Crown Prince and the future Crown Princess would have nothing to worry about.”
Leonhardt stepped closer to Leopold, whose face looked as if he had just bitten into something foul, and spoke in a low voice.
“So relax. Your turn will never come.”
Leonhardt flashed Leopold a confident smile. He had absolutely no intention of giving up the perfect excuse to become officially involved with Mina. That was precisely why he had checked her body the moment he heard about the Name.
Years ago, when that carriage accident occurred, Mina had been the only person riding in the carriage together with his mother Frida and Mina’s biological mother Louise. Unlike the two of them, Mina had survived, even if just barely while remembering nothing about what had happened during the accident. And the necklace that had been in Frida’s possession at the time, ‘The Goddess’s Tear’, had completely vanished.
“Remember this. The one who took that necklace is the culprit.”
Those were the words his father Benedict whispered to him before being dragged away to the northern tower under accusations of treason. Leonhardt firmly believed that person was the one who killed his mother, and that the necklace was now in their possession. That was why he couldn’t simply let the only witness to that accident slip away.
At that moment Karl, who had already finished planning how to eliminate Leonhardt, cleared his throat and spoke.
“Very well. I will make a decision. From now on, Lady Wittgen will accompany Grand Duke Tessen in as many activities as possible. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince must also pay careful attention to whether his own Name manifests. And all matters concerning the Crown Prince and the Name are classified. Therefore I strictly order not only the individuals involved but everyone present here to remain silent.”
