The Viscountess’s ring tore into Iruel’s flesh as her hand struck him. Her beating seemed more about awakening her own dulled senses than causing him any real harm.

Iruel didn’t even flinch in pain.

“Still lying, I see. Did you forget to bring your conscience along when you were getting your trousseau?”

“Shut up! My daughter is pure! There’s no way my daughter would stoop to rolling around with the son of a w***e!”

The Viscountess refused to believe that her daughter, who was promised to another man in marriage, had spent a night with her stepbrother.

Sighing, Iruel grabbed the Viscountess’s arm tightly.

“Son of a w***e, you say? That’s a bit harsh.”

“Let go of me! Take your hands off me, you filth!”

The Viscountess struggled and screamed as her arm was held. Iruel looked at her with disdain.

“You seem to be unaware, but the term ‘w***e’ refers to the women your Viscount secretly meets under the guise of attending social gatherings every Saturday night.”

At that, the Viscountess’s eyes widened in shock.

“What are you talking about? The Viscount what…?”

“Oh, my word.”

Releasing the Viscountess’s arm, Iruel clicked his tongue in disapproval.

“Madam, did you not know your husband frequents the red-light district every Saturday night?”

“Stop spouting nonsense!”

A large flower pot flew towards Iruel, who deftly ducked to avoid it.

The pot shattered against the wall, scattering pieces across the floor.

Viscount Eustice stormed up to Iruel, pointing angrily.

“Lady, don’t listen to that scoundrel! It’s all outrageous lies!”

Viscount Eustice held his wife, shouting.

“Oh, look at him denying his faults to the end. He’s not a Viscount; he’s just kindling.”

Iruel retorted with a glance at Viscount Eustice.

“Listen, Madam. The woman the Viscount has recently taken a liking to is already three months pregnant.”

The Viscountess fainted on the spot.

“What a mess this house is.”

Looking down at the collapsed Viscountess indifferently, Iruel nonchalantly walked towards a cabinet. No one stopped him as he opened the cabinet door.

Viscount Eustice was choking the butler, while the servants were fussing over the fallen Viscountess. Screams from the eldest daughter echoed from upstairs. The younger son was still shivering, unable to recover from the shock.

Iruel, pulling out a bottle of liquor from the cabinet, began to walk leisurely towards the estate’s main door. After magically uncorking the bottle, he pulled a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and casually tossed it on the floor.

“I’ve written a letter, so have a read. Well, I’m off then.”

Iruel walked out of the chaotic Eustice residence, swigging from the bottle. On the floor, dropped and unread, was a piece of paper with these few words written on it.

To the Unesteemed Viscount Eustice,

This is Iruel, whom you brought into existence at your whim. Have you been unwell?
I was going to curse you with a barrage of words, but then thought it a waste of paper and decided to keep it short.
I plan to live better and eat better than you from now on.
So, please remove my name from the Eustice Viscounty’s family records and never show your face in front of me again.
And, how about you stop breathing? I sincerely hope you do not live a long and disease-free life.

Iruel

P.S. It seems your youngest son has impregnated two of the maids working at the estate, were you aware?
Seeing the youngest’s deeds, it seems he truly shares your bloodline. Congratulations.

Sarubia slowly got up from her seat.

She looked outside through a hole at the top of the tent.

It was a night illuminated by the moon. There was still plenty of time before dawn.

The sound of steady breathing came from beside her. Rufus was sound asleep.

Despite his boasts that a recovery potion would suffice and his insistence on engaging Sarubia, even Rufus, the unparalleled, couldn’t withstand accumulated fatigue. After a prolonged argument with Sarubia, he had finally fallen asleep as if knocked out.

Sarubia gazed at Rufus, who was sleeping like a child.

It was the face of the man she loved.

A face that had settled deep in her heart over the past few months.

A face that kept coming to mind even when she closed her eyes.

The face she longed to see again.

And he was right here, sleeping beside her.

After watching Rufus’s face for a while, Sarubia poked his cheek with her finger.

“Mm…”

Rufus turned his head and shifted his body.

“Rufus, are you asleep?”

With her heart pounding, Sarubia asked in a soft voice.

There was no answer, only the sound of breathing steeped in sleep.

Confirming that Rufus was deep in sleep, Sarubia carefully stood up.

Rufus’s sword, leaning against the bed, came into view.

Rufus had clearly stated that this sword was inherited only by the successors of the Inferna Barony.

It must be a one-of-a-kind sword in the kingdom. There was no way she could be mistaken.

Sarubia slid off the bed and fell silent for a while, her gaze fixed on Rufus’s sword without moving.

After much deliberation, Sarubia reached out for the sword.
