Tonight’s upheaval had allowed seven of the prey destined for Eligos to escape. A man as ruthless and cold-hearted as Eligos could never have forgiven Yudel’s mistake without consequence.

“Wouldn’t it be best to have your wound treated? I’ll summon a physician at once—”

“There’s no need. Don’t make such a fuss.”

“But…”

The man’s gaze drifted to Yudel’s thigh. No matter how he looked at it, this was no ordinary injury. The rose had pierced straight through his thigh, and the blood flowing from the wound had already soaked deep into the sofa beneath him. It was the sort of injury that demanded immediate medical attention.

Yet Yudel’s expression remained as cold and impassive as ever.

“Cain.”

“Yes, Lord Yudel.”

At the sound of his name, Cain immediately lowered his head, ready to receive his orders. Yudel spoke.

“Go and quietly bring me some bandages and medicine. I’ll tend to the wound myself.”

“……”

“There’s no need to make a scene. Do I look so weak that I’d tremble over an injury like this?”

“…No, my lord.”

Cain, who had been worrying about Yudel all this time and had hesitated to leave, quietly shook his head.

As far as he knew, Yudel was the strongest among them, second only to Eligos himself. He had served at Eligos’s side for centuries, weathering every imaginable hardship. A thigh being pierced through was hardly the sort of injury that would trouble someone like Yudel.

Cain knew that well, which was precisely why he understood that his concern bordered on impertinence. And yet…

Yudel’s mood was plainly sour, and the color had drained from his face. Seeing him like that, Cain couldn’t help worrying despite himself.

Still, with Yudel having spoken so firmly, there was nothing more he could say. Bowing deeply, Cain accepted the order.

“Then I’ll fetch the medicine and bandages, just as you instructed.”

“Good.”

After Cain withdrew, only Yudel and Sophia remained in the room.

From the moment he had entered, Yudel had not taken his eyes off her for even an instant. Now he studied her face even more intently, his gaze calm and unwavering.

“……”

The woman slept soundly, utterly unaware that he was staring at her. Heavy restraints hung from both her wrists and ankles. A thick iron collar, so cumbersome it looked as though simply holding up her head would be difficult, was fastened around her neck, connected to a weighty chain.

It was a far cry from comfortable sleepwear, yet she slept without so much as a twitch. If anything, she looked perfectly at ease. It was the face of someone who had never scurried through his fortress like a rat in search of an escape route, throwing the entire castle into chaos.

As though she had never stood before him, soaked by a torrent of icy water, trembling from the cold while stubbornly insisting she had no idea where her companions had fled. As though she had never tarnished the trust Yudel had spent centuries building with Eligos .or left him in this humiliating state.

“What a carefree expression.”

The moment Yudel muttered those words, his deep violet eyes flashed with murderous intent. A crooked smile tugged at his lips. It was a smile steeped in the quiet fury welling up from within him, laced with a killing intent that threatened to erupt at any moment.

Yudel rose from his seat and walked over to the woman, then he examined her from head to toe.

‘Unkempt hair. A dull complexion. And that figure… utterly unremarkable. There’s nothing about her that looks remotely enjoyable to torment.’

Of all the newly acquired humans, the one who had seemed most satisfying to break had been the blonde.

The slightest despair brought tears to her eyes. The smallest threat made her tremble in fear. She startled at the drop of a hat.

She was the sort of prey that made one want to torment her simply by looking at her. Few things were more entertaining than making someone like that cry. Prey of that sort also tended to produce life essence refined enough to satisfy even Eligos’s discerning palate.

But the woman Yudel had marked had slipped through his fingers. The only thing left in his custody was this irritating woman. One who seemed not only incapable of shedding tears but who had also made his life miserable with her nauseating display of heroism.

It was this woman who had allowed the blonde to escape. The woman now sleeping peacefully before him, oblivious to everything.

Murderous intent churned deep within Yudel’s chest like the flames of hell. Never before in his life had he wanted, from the bottom of his heart, to kill a human being.

“But killing you too quickly would be no fun.”

His cool fingers brushed softly across Sophia’s sleeping cheek as he whispered.

“I’ll give you the most horrific, agonizing pleasure you’ve ever experienced.”

Until she reached the point where death seemed kinder than living. Until every breath she drew left her body trembling with arousal, stripping away that pitiful pride and ridiculous heroism, leaving her obedient to nothing but pleasure and humiliation.

And when both her mind and body had been reduced to little more than rags, when there was no longer any life essence left to draw from her…

“…I will personal finish you off with my hands.”

Yudel’s fingertips, which had been lingering against her cheek, slid to her throat like a beast’s claw. He closed his hand lightly around her neck, then released it.

His violet eyes shimmered coldly with the flames of vengeance.
