Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“Wait, that’s strange… I heard that, that those kids, already, already died…”
On top of that, she was now looking at him with fearful eyes as if seeing a ghost. Luke frowned and shot back.
“Candice, I’m an only son. I don’t know who you’re confusing me with, but I’m not those people.”
He intended to try his best not to show that his feelings were hurt. But the man who had beamed brightly out of joy couldn’t hide his emotions and turned stern, so trying to only keep his voice soft was useless.
Candice realized he wasn’t a ghost and let out a sigh of relief.
“So you’re not that kid. Uh, but then who are you…?”
Luke’s eyes turned triangular. His jealousy was far from small. She remembered some other guy but couldn’t remember him! When he was the one who had kept wandering the forest searching for her, unable to forget her for so long.
Even after that, he would often think of her and suffer from heartache. At the court party held after safely finishing the subjugation, even when someone said they liked him, he would recall the single night spent with Candice and find it difficult to give his heart to anyone.
‘And yet she doesn’t even remember me?’
Sorrow washed over him. His joy turned into disappointment and the corners of his lips that had been raised high drooped down.
“Did you forget that you told me to come repay the cost of the sweets when I became an adult, and that I could come see you anytime before that?”
“Uh…”
“I’ve never once forgotten the thought that I had to repay the favor. Even if it was a long time ago. This makes me upset, noona.”
Candice broke out in a cold sweat. She also wanted to recall the memory if possible, but she truly couldn’t remember who the child named Luke was.
Luke, who had been glaring at Candice out of disappointment, let out a deep sigh and extended his hand. Being upset was being upset, but anyway, she was the first love he had finally managed to meet again. Seeing her troubled and on the ground made him uneasy.
“Th, Thank you, Luke… Luke?”
Candice cautiously gauged his reaction as she took Luke’s hand and stood up. Her tone lacked confidence in whether she had correctly called him by the right name. Only when Luke said it was right did she finally feel relieved.
“So, the reason you came all the way here was because you owed me from when you were little and came to repay it?”
“Yeah. Noona might not remember, but noona said it. That money didn’t matter and to come when you were older. That you might need help then.”
“Ah, aah. So that’s how it was.”
She slowly rolled her eyes and nodded. She admitted that while she didn’t remember well, she might have said something like that.
“Right. Money doesn’t mean much to me anyway… so I might have wanted you to repay me with your body instead.”
Luke’s eyebrows, which had been fully lowered from disappointment, shot straight up. He doubted his own ears at the statement he had just heard.
“Telling me to come when I became an adult meant that? To repay you with my body?”
At first he wondered if it was a joke. So he asked again, but she nodded without batting an eye.
Luke’s heart began to race like mad. Repay with his body, so, didn’t that mean repaying her sexually?
Goodness. What kind of lewd repayment of a favor was this?
In the brief moment of facing Candice, his imagination had indeed run wild inside Luke’s racing mind, even going as far as marriage with her. But to think he would skip over so many steps like this…
It was far too different from the reunion he had anticipated, but he decided to be honest with himself. She was even more captivating than he hazily remembered. Down below was already reacting out of anticipation. As expected, there was no other woman who made him feel tempted like this.
‘To think I was such a pure-hearted man. Surely she didn’t say the same thing to that guy, the older brother of those siblings?’
A prickly feeling rose for a moment, but he quickly erased it. So what if she had said something similar? If he satisfied her better than anyone else, she would choose him.
Luke confidently took hold of Candice’s hand.
“Noona, do you prefer it gentle, or do you prefer it rough?”
Candice’s eyes went wide at Luke’s question. She rolled her eyes here and there as if pondering, then answered that she preferred gentle over rough after all.
“Got it. Then I’ll do my best to be gentle. Please take care of me.”
Luke grinned and pulled her hand toward him. If she had said she preferred it rough, he would have grabbed her by the neck and started with a kiss right away. But since she said she preferred gentle, it seemed better to proceed step by step.
“Let’s go inside first.”
