If it weren’t for the blonde hair and pink eyes, she would have been unrecognizable as Nita at all. Her body was so ruined that her limbs were bound, her abdomen cut open, her skin peeled away. I absolutely refuse to end up like that. I’m not weak. My condition is just bad right now. After washing, my eyes, nose, and mouth were neatly arranged, and if I just gained a bit of facial fullness, I’d probably be fine. In the original story, Nita never appeared in a normal state, so there was no particular mention of her looks. But Vivian is incredibly beautiful, so if I’m her younger sibling, maybe I could be pretty too once I recover.

In clean clothes and under a warm, fluffy blanket, I rested my face against the pillow and gazed out the window.

A quiet night where only the ticking of the clock could be heard. Once even the footsteps of people walking the halls disappeared, my tension eased and sleep poured over me. I felt like my temperature was slightly rising, but thanks to the prescribed painkillers, it didn’t hurt or feel difficult. For the first time in a very long while, I had a peaceful night. Reaffirming my resolve to recover quickly and try persuading Chase again.

And then a problem arose.

One day, two days, three days… a week passed. Time kept moving, and my body was steadily getting healthier, but Chase never showed himself at all.
