Chapter 65

“Yes…?” Hilde’s eyes widened in confusion. Benedict gazed into her clear eyes, which reflected his own face, and replied lightly, “Nothing.” Tilting his head, his words weren’t an answer to her question. “Go to sleep early tonight.”

That night, a single drop of something was omitted from Hilde’s dinner.

The next day, Hilde woke up early as promised. When Benedict returned to his bedroom after his morning training, she had already opened the curtains and windows and was neatly making the bed. “…Diligent, aren’t we?” Benedict, surprised by her unexpected punctuality, spoke with a hint of wonder.

However, Hilde, oblivious to his surprise, was encouraged by his praise. “I always used to wake up around dawn.”

“What for?”

“If I wake up early, I can finish all my work before dinner.” Hilde answered with a bright smile, as if sharing an important secret. Benedict’s gaze drifted to the back of her hands. They were now healed, with fresh, fair skin emerging, but the remnants of the bursts remained. What hadn’t bothered him before was strangely irritating today.

“Um, but how should I… undress you…?” Hilde asked, approaching him with his neatly folded clothes, as if proving her original duty and diligence. His expression, which had softened slightly, turned sullen again, displeased by her seemingly well-timed, pleasing words.

“Didn’t you hear me say I don’t require assistance with my clothes?”

“I did, but…” Hilde confessed in a small voice, slightly intimidated. “I still wanted to ask you directly, Master.” His hardened expression softened again, swayed by her sweet-sounding words. But a mischievous look quickly replaced it.

“Seems you’ve forgotten.” He tugged at the ribbon that fastened his shirt, loosening it. “This little charade isn’t what you’re supposed to be doing, is it?”

“Ah…!” Startled by the sudden loosening of his shirt and the exposure of his chest, Hilde fumbled, dropping his clothes. Benedict deftly snatched the garment and strolled into the bathroom. By the time she hurriedly fastened her own clothes and looked up, he was gone.

Hilde stared at the bathroom door, the sound of running water echoing within, and placed a hand over her rapidly beating heart. She was still trembling from the surprise. Even though nothing had happened, her lips felt hot, as they had after their kiss a few days ago. She unconsciously bit her lip. A tingling sensation seemed to spread through her lower abdomen.

‘Little rabbit.’

‘Do you know where you are? You dare enter without fear?’

His chillingly low voice resonated heavily in her mind. At the time, it had only frightened her, but for some reason, she’d found herself thinking about it since. And even…

Hilde’s trembling gaze returned to the bathroom. It couldn’t be, but the sound of the water seemed to grow louder. It felt as though her body was being drawn into the bathroom. The humid, hot air, the white steam blurring her vision, the slippery bathroom floor…

‘St-stop, this is strange, Master… uh, nn, Master!’

‘Strange? It must feel good.’

It should have been shameful, mortifying enough to make her want to flee, but a foreign sensation tightened her lower abdomen.

Hilde’s eyes snapped open. “…Impossible.” She covered her parted lips with a trembling hand. She couldn’t believe she’d just been reliving that night in her mind.

But she was already rubbing her thighs together. She could feel the heat pooling between her legs. Hilde’s silver eyelashes fluttered. A sudden realization struck her.

‘Actually, I…’ Hilde wrapped her arms around herself, swallowing words she could never utter aloud. ‘…I might have known what it meant to enter Master’s bathroom while he was bathing.’

She was suddenly frightened by her own unfamiliarity. The arousing thoughts that kept surfacing, her body’s reactions, terrified her.

But one thing was certain.

‘I didn’t hate it.’

Perhaps that was why she’d been able to find the courage. To grab his sleeve as he tried to leave, to be the one to initiate the kiss. Before the excuse of wanting to save a dying person, she had wanted it for herself.

Hilde clasped her hands tightly over her chest and squeezed her eyes shut. Recalling the sound of the falling water, his face, his lust-filled golden eyes, she thought, ‘Next time, I won’t let it end with just this.’

After the kiss, she’d thought she wouldn’t be able to avoid letting him have his way with her next time. But she’d been mistaken.

Most likely…

Next time, she wouldn’t refuse.
