For a moment, a dumbfounded sound slipped from Lynette.

Of course, she knew they were not truly related by blood, but officially they had become father and son, hadn’t they? And yet he had married his lover to him.

Seeing her make a strange expression, the woman burst into laughter.

“He’s still maintaining a romantic relationship with that woman.”

“…They’re father and son.”

“That’s right.”

Eshar lightly shrugged her shoulders.

“In any case, that woman has to be dealt with as well. Even if we deal with Nosh, it wouldn’t be good if she remains in the Count’s household.”

“Haah…”

A long sigh escaped.

As she said, there was a lot to do. It was enough to make her doubt whether the four of them could accomplish everything.

She had only done something trivial, yet who would have thought things would grow this big.

When Lynette lowered her head deeply while rubbing her forehead, Sillian took her hand. She felt a gentle sensation wrap around her entire body. There were no long words of comfort, but even this light contact conveyed everything he wanted to say.

“Thank you.”

“It’s nothing.”

The large hand firmly held Lynette.

How long had that silence lasted when Euphen opened the door and came in.

“Where are Agnis and Edwin?”

“I dropped them off safely. Don’t worry.”

He gave a bright smile, then stared silently at the hands of the two that were still connected. There was nothing wrong with it, but somehow it made her self-conscious, so when Lynette tried to subtly pull her hand away, Sillian instead tightened his grip.

A dark emotion flickered across Euphen’s face. It vanished so quickly that one wouldn’t notice without looking closely, but Lynette saw it clearly.

“…”

She twisted her hand once more and pulled it free. She could feel Sillian watching quietly.
She pretended not to notice his gaze.

Euphen quickly composed his emotions and sat down again with a faint smile.

“Now that we’ve settled things on that end, it’d be good to decide what we should do next.”

“I already explained the things that need to be done first.”

After saying that, Eshar glanced at Lynette and Sillian before continuing.

“Now we just need to divide the roles.”

Euphen’s eyes, slightly furrowed, turned toward Lynette. It was obvious he wasn’t pleased about her getting involved in something that might be dangerous, but there was no other way. They were short on people. Unless they had many people they could use, the four present here had to accomplish everything.

Sillian, who had remained silent, spoke.

“Lynette and I will enter the Count’s residence.”

At those words, Euphen let out a short sigh.

“Aren’t you being pursued right now? And yet you’re going to enter the Count’s residence?”

“That’s precisely why it would be better to enter.”

The man replied calmly without changing his expression.

“Right now they’ve sent people out to search for me and Lynette, so moving around will be difficult. In that situation, if you try to carry out the tasks you want as well, it will only cause a commotion.”

“…”

“It would be better to enter the residence instead. And among the people in the Count’s household, there are none who have properly seen Lynette and me, so it’s actually safer.”

What he said is true. The streets were already filled with Nosh’s subordinates. Moreover, there were people who saw Sillian’s face properly, so if they wandered around they would inevitably run into those subordinates somehow. If they wanted to resolve things quietly, it would be better for Euphen and Eshar to handle matters outside the Count’s residence.

“Lynette, will you be alright? You’d be walking straight into the enemy’s land of your own accord.”

“I’ll be alright.”

She did not bother to say that she trusted Sillian. Since she readily agreed, Euphen seemed to have no grounds to stop her and merely clenched the hand resting on his knee tightly.

“But how are you going to get into the residence?”

“Well. I believe Lynette will come up with a good method.”

Eshar replied with a bright smile.

‘This was all decided in a hurry, so it would actually be stranger if something had been prepared.’

Lynette turned to Sillian. He seemed not to have expected it either, showing no particular reaction.

“It would be better to decide on a meeting place. After all, once we rescue Edwin’s mother, we’ll also need somewhere for her to stay.”

At Euphen’s words, Eshar thought for a moment before speaking.

“Coming all the way here would be inefficient, so somewhere inside the village, as close to the Count’s residence as possible, would be best.”

“Do you know a good place?”

“There’s a shop that closed down about two months ago. It’s helpful that I looked into the situation of the shops here beforehand.”

She explained the exact location of the shop and the name written on the sign hanging outside.

“Since it’s a closed business, no one will pay attention to it. As long as we’re careful when entering and leaving. When I checked, all the windows were covered so that the inside couldn’t be seen.”

“Alright. Then let’s meet there.”

The four of them stood up and stepped outside the house without anyone taking the lead. They walked at a slightly quick pace, and at the fork in the road naturally stepped in their respective directions.

At that moment, a small voice called out.

“Lynette.”

Euphen was standing a little distance away. He bit his lip hard, then tightly shut his eyes before opening them and speaking slowly.

“Be careful. Don’t do anything too dangerous.”

“Yes. Euphen, be careful too.”

Sillian suddenly stopped and turned back to her, then pulled her hand. Lynette tried to pull it away, but he didn’t let go.

Feeling the persistent gaze, she glanced back slightly and saw Euphen standing there with his head lowered.

She deliberately turned her head away as if she hadn’t seen him.
