“Miss Camilli, thank you for waiting.”

Just then, the attendant returned to announce that the carriage had arrived. I tore my gaze away from the women who now looked like mere specks in the distance and climbed into the carriage.

As I rode home, I absentmindedly watched the scenery pass by. Then a familiar dessert shop came into view.

“Resjul.”

The dessert shop that Ren Abyss had mentioned—and one I was known to visit frequently. On an impulsive whim, I told the coachman to stop the carriage, grabbed my handbag, and headed inside.

The moment I opened the door, the sweet aroma of chocolate filled the air.

Back on Earth, chocolate was an everyday snack, but here, until just a few years ago, it had only been sold as a drinkable liquid, like hot chocolate. Using molds to form it into solid squares was a novelty, and as if to showcase its popularity, most of the chocolate section was nearly empty.

“Have you tried Resjul’s new chocolates with rum and cherry?”

“…No.”

“Ah, what a shame. I think you’d like them. I’ll send a box to you later.”

“I didn’t think he’d actually send it.”

The amusing man who kept his word despite suspecting me of being a possessor—and yet somehow boasted a high affinity score of 77.

I stared at the rum-and-cherry chocolates he mentioned, then sighed, shaking my head, and picked up a cookie from the next section instead.

The reason I chose a cookie over chocolate was simple: it wasn’t mine.

Thanks to the reward “Memory of Friendhip” from clearing the previous chapter, I could peek into the memories planted there and see how Camilli had spent her days with Dahlia.

I had assumed they were just barely tolerable roommates, forced under one roof—but I had been completely wrong. For once, it was fortunate that I hadn’t been suspected.

Were they close enough to exchange gifts like this? Not exactly. But since there had been no interaction following the last quarrel of an indescribable nature, it seemed necessary to break the cold war.

Holding the brightly decorated sugar cookie, I made my way toward the staff. Someone called my name.

“Miss Camilli.”

“…Your Highness?”

It was Crown Prince Daeon. Surprised, I blinked a few times before finally bowing politely as he playfully waved an envelope in front of me.

“I got the same thing. Do you like cookies?”

“Ah… yes, I suppose.”

Though Resjul was close to the palace, it was unusual to see him moving about so freely without attendants. He grinned and waved.

“See you again.”

I watched his retreating figure, still stunned. I had thought when I first met him that his personality might be like that—or had they really been close?

“What is your relationship with Crown Prince Daeon?”

Ren Abyss’ question in the investigation room came to mind. If he asked that, then at least once the Crown Prince must have mentioned my name—but would they really be close enough for that?

“I shouldn’t meet him again.”

Information about my connection to Crown Prince Daeon wasn’t even known to Hongik Ingan. It would be safer not to give him any reason to suspect anything. The problem was that, thanks to Princess Navea, I would be visiting the palace more frequently.

I sighed and resumed walking. The staff member, busy tidying up, immediately straightened and put on a professional smile upon seeing me.

“Sorry, miss. If you’ve chosen, I’ll bring it right over!”

“Oh, that’s fine. Please put these in a gift box.”

“Oh, I should have done that. Please wait a moment!”

Here, purchases weren’t self-checkout; you told the staff what you wanted, and they brought it to you. For possessors who had been used to self-service stores, it felt strange.

Hawk had even been treated as a thief once for not knowing this as he had grabbed an apple at a grocery store.
