“…What?”

I rubbed my eyes hard, forgetting even that I was wearing makeup, unwilling to believe the reality before me. But like the mechanical voice in my ear, the message on the screen kept showing that the assist function had been disabled—some nonsense like that.

“Why would they turn it off? How is that not a default option? That’s a must-have feature for anyone dragged here!”

No one reading every word so meticulously could possibly remember what happens in which chapter. Chapters could last anywhere from an hour to ten years; how was I supposed to survive without even knowing the D-day?

“Seriously?”

I yelled out in frustration. A priest walking down the corridor across from me stepped back cautiously and then ran to the other side. I nervously ran my hand through my hair and closed my eyes, swallowing my irritation.

Calm down. There must be another way. There were still about two weeks left, and if I could find and rehabilitate a spirit within that time…

After dozens of self-brainwash sessions, I finally found calm. Though I wasn’t sure if it was true composure or sinking into melancholy.

As I walked out toward the main exit, my body limping like a slug, I spotted a familiar blonde girl waiting near a pillar, her face sulky.

“What’s she still doing here?”

Dahlia must have seen me too, because she strode over with a forceful step, as if ready to challenge me to a duel.

I was about to ask why she waited and why she hadn’t left first, but she was quicker. She stared at me fiercely and demanded without preamble,

“Who?”

That single-word question was simple yet loaded with meaning. I furrowed my brow at the abruptness.

“Who? What do you mean all of a sudden?”

“Who?”

“……”

At that moment, all the question marks flooding my mind turned into exclamation points.

Could it be that she’d sensed something? Was she asking because she knew who I really was?

My heart started pounding again. Just the possibility of being discovered made it race wildly, just like when I faced Vice earlier.

Had she really realized that I wasn’t the original Camilli Mute? This idiot?

“Here.”

My runaway thoughts were suddenly cut off by the appearance of a letter. I was caught off guard by this unexpected prop here and now but hurriedly snatched the envelope from her, fearing it might be a letter related to Bali.

Turning it over and over, I sighed in relief when I saw nothing written on the surface. If Bali had sent it, it would have had the Rouge boutique or some temporary address on it.

So it wasn’t from Hongik Ingan. Then who was it from? Was it really meant for me?

“What is this…?”

[Thought you might need it. — From Mockingbird, supporting you]

As soon as I opened the envelope, the first thing I saw was familiar handwriting and the pseudonym “Mockingbird”, which I hadn’t seen in a while.

I was already impatient with the unbelievable reality crashing down on me. Though I didn’t know who this was, at least as far as residency matters went, Mockingbird had helped me more than Bali.

Hoping it might contain something useful to replace the disabled assist function, I tore open the letter frantically.

I froze as I saw something blinking before my eyes.

Right. First, I had to deal with this annoying half-sister in front of me.

Honestly, I was surprised to get another letter from Mockingbird, but even more surprised that the letter had ended up in Dahlia’s hands.

I demanded coldly,

“Why do you have this?”

“…First tell me who he is. There’s some kind of code—I want to know what kind of man you’re secretly meeting.”

A man?

I furrowed my brows at the unexpected question but soon understood her thought process.

She probably thought it was a love letter.

That was somewhat a relief.
