Chapter 89
Hearing my voice, the couple who had been passionately kissing suddenly froze their movements. Wyner, with his cravat all loosened, stopped massaging his partner’s chest abruptly and turned to look at me in surprise.
“Ca-Camilli?”
Judging by his misplaced hand, his disheveled hair, and the lipstick smeared beyond the edges of his lips, it was painfully obvious how urgent the situation was. I couldn’t help but let out a nervous chuckle.
Is this the same guy who was clinging to me just moments ago?
“This, this is—”
“Enough. It’ll only take a minute, so just hold on.”
Honestly, I wanted to ignore them and walk away. But this was one of the rooms where I had to find the mounted deer head, so I couldn’t just brush it off.
Why is this lunatic making a scene in someone else’s house?
“I-I’m just going to leave now!”
Embarrassed at being caught in such an unladylike state, the woman blushed tomato red and hurriedly fled. She tried to tidy her dress, which had slipped down near her chest, and ran her fingers through her tangled hair, but it was clear to anyone that the situation was a mess born of intense passion. It was funny to just go like that.
Of course, the truly ridiculous one wasn’t the woman, but the idiot standing right in front of me. Although I didn’t have deep feelings—since I never dated him as Kim Sae-i—he was still my body’s ex-boyfriend.
The very one who had been spewing words trying to hold me just now.
No, the more I thought about it, the more absurd it seemed. I wondered how the real Camilli would have reacted to witnessing this. The thought made me inexplicably angry.
“Camilli, just listen to me.”
“I said wait. It’ll be over in a minute.”
I snapped at Wyner, who was clearly about to spout more nonsense, and then rolled my eyes vigorously. As someone on the edge of illegal stay, I had much more important things to focus on than listening to my ex’s lame excuses.
“Where is it?”
But no matter how much I searched, there was no deer head—or any wall-mounted decoration besides paintings. I checked the walls and furniture carefully, but to no avail.
Flustered, I rummaged through the room, lifting blankets and curtains. Wyner looked on, clearly confused.
“Camilli, what exactly are you doing?”
I had no time to answer him. Annoyed at my disregard, his tone sharpened.
“Camilli Mute. I’m royalty, you know. You keep treating me like dirt…”
“Oh, so you, such a nobleman, were doing that in someone else’s bedroom?”
Failing to find the deer head, I shot back sharply. With so much stress and frustration already, dealing with the body owner’s ex who was nothing but a brat made me boil with anger.
“Did it bother you that I was with another woman?”
“What?”
“What did I say? You’ll regret it.”
The problem was this brat had zero awareness. I almost wanted to punch him after hearing those lines, and my eyelids twitched.
“Hey.”
Sighing deeply, I lifted my chin and glared at him. Despite being a brat, his height was towering, forcing me to look up, which irritated me even more.
“Do you think I have any lingering feelings for you?”
“…”
“If you understand, step aside.”
I really should have stuck with Priest Vice. A psychopath is better than a brat any day.
But Wyner’s reaction was strange. He said nothing, so I assumed he understood, but for some reason, he blocked my path.
Frowning and looking up, I caught sight of a man whose cold expression didn’t fit him at all. The room’s silence was broken only when I locked eyes with his red irises.
“I admit I acted rashly just now.”
“I told you I don’t care—”
“But even if I stayed rational, I would have done the same. In fact, I’d have done it openly in front of you.”
“…What?”
I couldn’t make sense of what he meant.
