Chapter 48
And so, at last, Tina gave voice to the question she’d been telling herself was impossible. The possibility she’d wanted to dismiss as wild delusion, she could no longer keep it buried.
Cain did not answer. But precisely because of that silence, Tina understood. Affirmation lived within it.
“…Why, why didn’t you tell me?”
Tina trembled, and tears fell. All the truths, crashing into her all at once, engulfed her like fog.
“You could have told me who you were. Instead of leaving me behind every time, you could have told me. Do you know how lonely I was… how hard it was…”
In the end, Tina pounded against Cain’s solid chest like a child throwing a tantrum. He accepted every blow without a word. He didn’t retreat a single step.
“You could have told me that instead of leaving, you’d actually been beside me all along. So why…”
She couldn’t finish. Just saying the words aloud threatened to bring the tears crashing back.
“Because I was afraid… afraid that you would fear me.”
Cain’s answer came low and quiet.
“…Cain.”
At the honest confession, stripped of all pretense, Tina slowly lifted her head. And there he was, gazing at her as if he had always been right there.
The moment their eyes met, the frozen air surrounding them began to thaw. Through the cracks of her shattered emotions, warmth was seeping in.
Then Cain crossed the remaining distance between them with careful steps. Without a word, he pressed his lips softly to the corners of her eyes. The kiss settled over the tear-stained skin, comfort and apology woven into one.
“Don’t disappear. Never again… don’t let anything happen that I don’t know about.”
Tina whispered from the shelter of Cain’s arms.
“Don’t make me afraid that everything we shared was just a dream, that it’ll all vanish the moment I wake up.”
At her words, half grievance and half prayer, Cain tightened his embrace. Gentle and firm at once, refusing to let a single breath escape.
“Yes. I promise.”
It was a short answer, but more resolute than any he’d ever given.
Then Cain laid his lips over hers. A little deeper than before, a little longer, sealing his vow a second time through the kiss itself.
Tina closed her eyes to meet it. She felt all the anxieties that had haunted her like nightmares melting quietly away. This warmth she felt right now, this, at least, was unmistakably hers. Unmistakably real.
“Mmh.”
As the kiss deepened, breathlessness overtook her, and she found herself gripping the fabric beneath her fingers. Her toes curled of their own accord; her hips stirred.
When his languid tongue swept between her sensitive lips and grazed the roof of her mouth, unsteady breaths spilled naturally from between them.
“Hah, mmn.”
Tina chased the sensation Cain was giving her, rocking her hips subtly against him from where their bodies met. Each time their bodies pressed and ground together through the fabric at that clumsy rhythm, sighs escaped both their lips at the same time.
And then, when Cain’s hand slid beneath her waistband…
“Mmn, no. I… I want to do it.”
Tina managed to form the words between breathless, half-formed moans.
“You, hah, you lied to me. So you, mmh, you should suffer too.”
When Tina pushed his hand away with force, Cain withdrew without resistance. His posture said he would follow wherever she led.
That compliance only made Tina’s arousal burn hotter. She held all the power, she could do whatever she pleased with this man and his massive frame.
“Stay still, nnh, stay still.”
Whimpering softly, Tina loosened the cord fastened to her clothing. Then, with Cain watching, she reached behind him and tied his wrists together at his back.
It was cloth that would snap with the slightest effort on his part, yet he submitted to the punishment she imposed without protest.
“I’m doing this. You have to stay still.”
His obedience sent a thrill coursing through her. The tremor had vanished from her voice, replaced by a gaze clouded with arousal and nervous anticipation.
And yet, seeing Cain beneath her, wearing a smile of easy composure that encouraged her to try, she still felt like the one losing. Tina didn’t like that one bit.
So she lowered her hand and yanked his trousers down in one swift motion. His member sprang free, already rigid, and the ridged veins coiled along its surface pulsed with heat.
“Stay… still.”
Tina wanted to wipe that composure off his face. She wanted to punish him, to make him struggle the way she had.
“Hah…”
When Tina wrapped both hands around his shaft, a sharp gasp tore from Cain’s lips. Her two hands couldn’t even contain it entirely, yet she worked the long, thick length eagerly up and down, chasing what she wanted.
Each time she swept from root to tip in one long stroke, Cain thrust his hips up shallowly, like he was buried inside her. But he only tipped his head back, fighting the mounting sensation, he didn’t pounce. He was behaving.
“…Nnh.”
What’s more, the way he bit one corner of his lip to suppress his moans kept stoking something deep inside Tina. Each time she saw those bitten lips, the ache between her own legs intensified. It itched.
‘He’s beautiful.’
Looking at Cain, that was the only thought in Tina’s mind.
