Schedule: Tue and Sat

“I guess it wasn’t a prearranged meeting?”

“Of course not.” Damian said, observing my reaction. His furrowed brow slowly relaxed.

I shifted in my seat, preparing to disembark. Damian rose as well and reached for the carriage door. However, contrary to my expectation that he would open it for me, he simply placed his hand on the door and looked down at me.

“Damian?”

“Should I chase him away?”

“What?” I tilted my head, bewildered by his unexpected question.

“Should I chase him away for you?” Damian was referring to Hector Acid.

It was a tempting offer. For a fleeting moment, I felt the urge to ask him to do so, but I shook my head.

“No. It’s not something I should leave to someone else.”

Hector seemed to have sensed my presence in the carriage. He was staring at it, roughly raking a hand through his hair.

“Right, I suppose not now.” Damian replied, his voice laced with disappointment. He stepped out of the carriage first and extended a hand to me. His sly demeanor suggested he was letting me off the hook just this once. I chuckled softly and took his hand.

As I stepped out of the carriage, Hector’s gaze felt intense, but Damian’s presence lessened its impact.

“Well then, Amelia.” Damian brought his lips to the back of my hand, his voice gentle, but his gaze seemed to be directed past me, towards Hector.

“See you later.” After a light kiss, Damian winked at me. I simply stood there, not looking at Hector, until Damian and the carriage disappeared from sight.

“Ha…” I wanted to ignore Hector and his palpable glare and just go inside. But I knew I couldn’t. The approaching footsteps behind me told me their owner wouldn’t let me go that easily.

“…Amelia.” Hector’s low voice called out to me. Suppressing a sigh, I slowly turned to face him.

“Did you come back because you have more to say?”

“……” Hector simply stared at my face, his expression hard, his gaze seemingly cold.

“Or did you just not leave?” Surely he hadn’t been standing here ever since we parted ways? I narrowed my eyes, scrutinizing him.

‘Surely not.’ Hector’s responsibilities as the Duke of Acid had recently increased, keeping him busy. He couldn’t have spent the entire day waiting for me.

“Anyway, what is it?” I asked Hector flatly, who was still standing there with a hardened expression. His brow furrowed.

“First, it was Div, and now Ditronil?” He muttered in a low voice. But it wasn’t the answer I was looking for.

Hector Acid continued, taking a step closer, “Aren’t you out too late?”

“Too late?” I glanced at the sky. The sun was setting, but it wasn’t completely dark yet. Besides…

“Hector, it’s none of your business.” It didn’t matter to him when I came home or who I was with. He had no right to say anything.

I crossed my arms and stared directly at Hector.

“Skip the small talk and get to the point. Why are you here?”

“I still have something to say.”

“I think we’ve said enough.”

“A few words are hardly…”

A sigh escaped my lips. I didn’t bother holding it back; I let it out loudly in front of Hector. His expression seemed to grow even colder.

“Fine. I’ll listen. Say everything you want to say now, since it’s so bothersome.” I lifted my chin towards Hector, as if urging him to get it over with so he wouldn’t come back again.

He ran a rough hand through his hair, as if displeased. His usually neatly styled hair was disheveled.

“Well? Go on.”

“…Why didn’t you reveal it sooner?”

“What?”

“If you had told me earlier, if only you had…”

“Wait, Hector. What are you talking about?” I frowned, interrupting Hector’s rambling. I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say.

Hector looked at my face and parted his lips. It seemed like he was trying to organize his jumbled thoughts.

“…Amelia, if only you had told me your feelings sooner.”

Ah, so that’s what this was about. Just as Ricardo had said, Hector seemed to be under some strange misapprehension.

“Tsk.” I clicked my tongue in annoyance, and Hector stopped talking.

“Hector, I don’t know what you’re trying to say…” I furrowed my brow and looked up at Hector with an irritated gaze. I saw the confusion on his face, but I didn’t care.

“Are you trying to blame me?”

“That’s not…”

“Even if I had confessed my feelings to you sooner, nothing would have changed.” I cut Hector off. I saw his crimson eyes flicker for a moment. His moving lips seemed to form the words, “It would have been different,” but I didn’t hear them. Ignoring Hector’s delusion, I continued, “Skip the pointless talk. Isn’t there another reason you came looking for me?”

Hector, who had been momentarily silent, clenched his jaw. I could see the tension in his face.

“…I heard you met with Vivian.”

As soon as I heard his words, a smile played on my lips.

See? This was the real reason he came looking for me.
