Chapter 127
Eki, who had been about to take the medicine he offered without thinking, froze and looked up at him with narrowed eyes.
“It’s something the medical staff gave you. I didn’t make it.”
“…Yes, thank you.”
Eki swallowed the bitter medicine and finally let out a breath.
Before long, the dizziness subsided and her churning stomach settled back into place. As soon as she regained her senses, she asked Ikelid,
“Why am I here? What about Master?”
“He said he couldn’t handle it on his own and asked for help. So I moved you to the Association.”
“And what happened to him?”
“Cassius is fine. From what I hear, some courier caused an incident there?”
Ikelid put on a kindly smile, perched himself on the edge of Eki’s bed, raised one knee, and rested his chin on it.
“Don’t worry. I handled it appropriately. That guy won’t cause trouble for the Thousand Tower ever again.”
Eki’s mouth fell open.
What was this man saying with his foot up on a hospital bed. Had he killed Babel?
“I fired him on the spot and handed him over to the investigation bureau. Stealing an Association seal wasn’t enough, he almost brought down a magic tower.”
“Ah.”
“Cassius’s tower is the most important place in this world. If someone messes with it, shouldn’t they pay the price?”
At those words, Eki frowned.
“An important place? What do you mean by that?”
“Hmm.”
Ikelid brushed back his dark blue hair and tapped his chin as if thinking.
“Actually, Cassius asked me for a favor. He said that when you woke up, I should explain what you saw in his place. Isn’t that funny?”
“Huh?”
“That guy really is an exceptional coward.”
“You know about what I saw too, Association Head?”
As a mage herself, Eki already knew. What she’d seen were jewels made from dragon hearts. Dragon hearts. Not just one or two, but hundreds. Perhaps even close to a thousand, piled up in an enormous mass.
“Of course I do. That’s why Cassius entrusted this task to me.”
Ikelid added in a sing song voice,
“So? If you’re feeling alright, should I tell you now?”
“I refuse.”
Eki cut him off coldly, as if there was nothing more to see. Ikelid looked at her with a curious expression and tilted his head.
“You’re not curious? You saw the magic circle drawn in blood too.”
“I did. But I want to hear the details directly from Master.”
“Cassius thinks you’re going to leave the tower. He already considers it half done.”
Eki’s firm expression sank in an instant.
So not only had her master left the explanation to someone else, he didn’t even intend to talk with her and was trying to send her away?
‘Did he give up on me?’
For a moment, the words he’d spoken when revealing his true identity drifted through her mind like a ghost. What had he said. That if she ran away because she was afraid of her dragon master, he’d let her go.
Cassius was always like that. Why wouldn’t he act desperate? Why wouldn’t he hold on to her?
The only times he begged were when he was flustered over his fully aroused c**k. That fact only made Eki angrier.
For a split second, she imagined storming off to find her master and mercilessly ravaging his a*s with a d***o strapped on, then took a deep breath and organized her tangled thoughts.
No matter what, her resolve hadn’t changed.
“I want to talk to Master. I appreciate what you said, Association Head, but I’ll have to refuse.”
“…Hmm. I see.”
Ikelid looked at her as if genuinely surprised. Eki pretended not to notice his gaze and looked away. Any remaining goodwill or respect she’d had for Ikelid was completely gone.
‘Because he locked Master in the Thousand Tower for 380 years.’
At this point, should she ask if there was any way to free her master sooner?
Just as she was about to speak, familiar faces entered the hospital room.
“Eki, thank goodness! You’re awake!”
“Hey, how are you feeling?!”
Milla and Giyote. Her friends had come to see her. And it wasn’t just them.
“Ekiiii!”
“Our daughter, are you okay?”
“Mom?! Dad?!”
Even her parents appeared, whom she hadn’t seen in months.
Eki opened her mouth wide and hurriedly tried to get up, but her mother stopped her and dabbed chicken like tears onto a handkerchief.
“It’s fine. Stay still. I heard there was a big incident at the tower this time?”
“You have no idea how worried we were. Huh?”
“N-No. How did you even get here…”
“How else would we get here. They said you suddenly collapsed and were brought to the ward. How could we not come?!”
