Chapter 131
“No, it’s just, I thought maybe, so I was trying to listen to your heartbeat!”
“You stripped me and kissed me, too?”
“That was…!”
Eki, who was about to say it wasn’t intentional, froze.
“Come to think of it, that’s strange. The effect of the luck potion should be over by now, right?”
Right. A full month had finally passed since she last experienced the baffling effects of that ultra powerful luck potion. She hadn’t even seen the fairies who would’ve been anxiously waiting for her the entire way back, so it was certain the potion’s effect had ended.
‘But what’s the probability that my sleeping master would wake up, lift his head, and accidentally bump into me and kiss me?’
Hmm… extremely low. Cassius seemed to realize that too, because he stared at Eki with his brows drawn together, then let out an ‘Ah’ with a sigh.
“It seems the suppressant… isn’t working very well.”
“Really? But I don’t even see Venta or Tys. We were seeing fairies because of the luck potion, weren’t we?”
That wasn’t what he meant. Cassius wiped his overheated face, then swallowed dryly and confessed.
“It’s on my end. It doesn’t seem to be working well.”
Huh?
“The potion’s effect… I was seeing it too.”
“…What?!”
Eki screamed loud enough to shake the tower.
❖ ❖ ❖
After entrusting Eki to Ikelid, Cassius sat there blankly for several hours, covered in blood. He only came to his senses after hearing that she was safe. After that, he didn’t know how he washed up or changed clothes, but after expending a great deal of strength to stabilize Eki’s mana, he fell into a deep sleep.
Dragons were still magical beasts at their core, so when weakened, they tended to fall into a hibernation-like sleep. While he was sleeping as if dead, he heard Eki’s voice.
‘…I thought I was dreaming.’
Her touch, her breath, her warmth. Everything felt like an illusion. Cassius barely managed to lift his heavy eyelids to check if it was really Eki. He never imagined the result would be such an unfortunate kiss.
“So you’re saying everything that happened. My skirt flipping up, me ending up naked, doing all that stuff with you. None of that was my fault, it was because of you, Master?”
Cassius bit his lip and quietly avoided his disciple’s gaze.
He had ended up confessing by mistake while half-asleep, but he didn’t regret it. Either way, it was something she had to learn eventually.
“I’m sorry I told you so late.”
“It’s fine. With your personality, Master, there was no way you’d tell me.”
Despite Eki’s sharp tone, he didn’t feel angry. He wasn’t deliberately watching her mood because he felt guilty. Cassius carefully examined her with uneasy eyes.
Short red hair. Round, delicate eyes. An unusually small face and constantly fidgeting pink lips. She looked no different from her usual healthy self. Her body also seemed completely fine, with no visible injuries.
Only then did Cassius feel relief and lower his head. The large hand covering his eyes trembled faintly.
“…Master.”
As if she’d noticed his feelings, Eki gently placed her hand on his knee. Slowly patting herself, she threatened him.
“Alright. Now tell me everything. Why are there dragon hearts in the basement? What was that strange magic circle? Why were you trying to send me away? You do care about me, right?”
“Eki.”
“Why did you ask Association Head Lagus to explain things instead? Whatever that magic circle is, whether I leave or not is an issue between the two of us, isn’t it?”
“That’s…”
It seemed she hadn’t heard the explanation from Ikelid. Since there was no reason to hide it anymore, Cassius hesitated, then parted his lips. But perhaps even that looked unsatisfactory, because Eki suddenly climbed onto his lap and shoved him back hard.
“Agh, Eki!”
In an instant, the bedroom ceiling filled his vision.
But only for a moment. Soon, Cassius’s sight was filled with red hair glowing warmly like the sunset, and bright golden eyes. Eki narrowed the distance as if she were about to kiss him, then spoke in a firm voice.
“This time, silence won’t work. Tell me exactly what the problem is.”
Then, with a soft thud, Eki lowered her head. She pressed her forehead against Cassius’s, who had his eyes tightly shut.
“No matter what happens, no matter what kind of problem there is, I like you, Master.”
