As it turned out, this slime carried poison.

Eki rubbed her eyes and shone the torch brighter into the cell. She averted her gaze from Cassius, who now had his arms, legs, and pale back exposed, and focused on the slime instead.

Slimes that carried poison usually had purple magic stones. But this one’s core, visible through its transparent, gelatinous body, was an intense blue. It seemed to be a mutation.

‘Wow, a mutated monster. A rare creature with a 0.1% chance of appearing just so happens to capture my master and dissolve his clothes?’

Eki realized it.

This was the effect of the ultra-strong luck potion once again!

“Eki, hurry. If you dawdle any longer, I might suffocate.”

“Ah, uh, yes. Understood.”

Even so, she couldn’t just stand by and ignore Cassius. Whether this was due to the potion or not, she was the only one who could save him right now.

‘What kind of mess is this…’

Deliberately ignoring the sight of Cassius suspended in midair in a pose straight off the cover of some scandalous novel only sold under the counter, Eki stepped into the cell. The restraints were located inside, so to reach them, she would first have to disable the slime.

Dealing with a slime was simple. As she’d thought earlier, a few blasts of fire magic would surely make the creature tremble and scurry into a corner.

‘Since it’s poisonous, I should shield myself first.’

When Eki drew a circle with her hand, a magic circle lit up in the air and a barrier settled over her.

“You should cast a shield on me, too.”

“Sorry, Master, but I’m not an archmage. I’m not good at long-distance magic.”

“…Ha. And I kept telling you to study ranged magic!”

Cassius erupted, furious that after seven years under his tutelage she couldn’t even manage a simple shield spell for someone else. Eki let his scolding go in one ear and out the other.

‘Does Master even know?’

Casting a spell at a target more than ten meters away was difficult even for the country’s most renowned mages. And right now, Cassius was suspended midair, his position constantly shifting with the slime’s wriggling. This was like trying to hit a bird with an arrow.

“Should I just leave, then?”

“No!”

Cassius ground his teeth and cut off his nagging. Thanks to that, Eki could calmly proceed to her next move.

‘Let’s see…’

It seemed best to target near the magic stone with fire magic. But since the core was the slime’s nucleus, it was buried deep within its body.

Eki hung the torch on the wall and snapped her fingers. A round fireball formed around her, and when she launched it, the slime convulsed violently and retreated into a corner.

“Ggh!”

Cassius was dragged along with it.

But then the slime gripped not only Cassius’s arms and legs but his entire body and face, pulling him deeper into its gelatinous mass.

“Master!”

Cassius was swallowed by the transparent blob.

She could see him writhing, struggling to breathe. Eki quickly shifted her aim and fired fireballs near his face.

Thankfully, the slime blocking his airways burst, and he coughed as air rushed into his lungs.

“Gah, ngh, cough!”

“Are you okay? You didn’t swallow any slime, right?”

“No… Ngh. More importantly, quickly… ah!”

Eki coated both hands in flames and tore through the slime without hesitation, advancing until she was directly beneath Cassius.

Now close enough to cast a shield on him, she prepared the spell… but then froze as she took in his body.

The earlier attack had completely dissolved his clothes, leaving him gloriously, scorchingly naked.

Gasp.

Eki’s eyes widened like someone in shock at a sudden disaster.

From below, Cassius’s naked body was nothing short of flawless.

His slackened arms and legs were held apart and raised high by the slime. Under the silk-like white hair clinging to his neck, his bound wrists pulled his shoulders tight, exposing the sculpted deltoids and biceps beneath his arms.

And below that… his abdomen was carved into breathtakingly beautiful muscles, and beneath it, a perfectly smooth mound, inexplicably devoid of a single hair, was positioned right above Eki’s head.
