❖ ❖ ❖

In the end, they didn’t manage to get much work done that day.

‘Wow, this is bad. There’s going to be a mid-term inspection in a few days, what are we supposed to say then?’

Honestly, the Association really needed to take Thousand Dog Tower’ss circumstances into consideration. No matter how many times they were told there were only two people working here, they never reduced the order quantities.

‘…Wait, could it be because they know Master’s a dragon?’

The Association Head placed quarterly orders for magic circles and potions with every regional tower. If he wanted, he could reduce Thousand Dog Tower’ss quota and give the extra orders to another tower with more manpower. But the fact that he didn’t…

‘That’s it. It has to be. Because Master’s a dragon, they think this much is fine!’

Maybe this was humanity’s way of venting their anger at the sinful species that had triggered the Age of Darkness.

Eki ground her teeth as she changed into her nightclothes and sat on the edge of her bed.

‘Should we just not meet the quota this time? Just ignore it?’

But if they did that, not only would demand letters come flying in constantly, next year’s orders might disappear altogether. Sure, that’d be easier on their bodies, but their wallets wouldn’t be happy. The Association would cut their payments. Even their subsidies would shrink down to a pittance.

“Ha… what a tough life I lead.”

Her Master was a dragon, and she’d taken an ultra-strong luck potion that made her see his most shameful state over and over. As nice as that might have been, if it interfered with their work, she had to find a solution somehow.

‘But… the more I think about it, the stranger it is. Dragons are supposed to have low s*x drive, right? Even with the luck potion’s effects, why would he get hard over a slime?’

…Could it be that slimes were Cassius’s type?

A shudder ran down Eki’s spine.

‘O-Of course, it did look amazing, but if that’s his kink… ahem.’

Maybe that’s why he’d kicked her out of the lab. Realization must have hit him after the fact, and he’d been overwhelmed with shame.

“This is insane, totally insane.”

Yeah, that had to be it. Eki clutched her head and flopped backward.

“Ha…”

Cassius’s s****l tastes aside, she still couldn’t believe he was a dragon.

She’d always thought it was odd that he barely ate or ever used the restroom, but she’d chalked it up to some fairytale-like mystique that only made him seem more like a storybook beauty.

‘But to find out he’s not even human. That he’s a monster.’

Strangely, though, she didn’t feel any aversion. Even though he was a member of the highest-ranking monster race that had committed history’s greatest atrocity, all she felt was bewilderment, not fear or disgust.

Could it be because Cassius was just too handsome?

‘Are all dragons this beautiful…?’

She glanced at the gallery of beautiful men and women decorating her room. None of them could compare to Cassius’s looks.

His thick, defined eyebrows, his sharp, slightly upturned green eyes, that perfectly straight nose, and his smooth lips with not a single blemish. His features were perfectly symmetrical, as though drawn with a protractor and ruler, even the tip of his nose perfectly rounded and placed just right. He was a work of art, a living statue.

‘Honestly, he might be the most beautiful dragon of them all. That face isn’t something you see every day.’

She’d practically sprinted to the Thousand Dog Tower just to meet him when she’d first seen his portrait, not even knowing where the tower was located. Cassius was never an ordinary man.

‘But I thought dragons were all gone after the Age of Darkness. How did he end up here?’

Dragons had torn open the dimensional barrier and migrated to another world centuries ago, ceasing to exist in this one. A few dragons had stayed behind, but they’d all been wiped out during the chaos of the Age of Darkness. And yet Cassius had survived. Why had he chosen to coexist with humans? He could have hidden his identity if he wanted.

‘And given how human society was back then, they’d have been even less likely to accept him.’

Her head felt tangled. All of this was because Cassius had revealed his secret for no reason.

“He said he was going to tell me in three years. What if I had bad intentions, what then?”

Eki murmured softly.

She hadn’t shown it, but alongside the pressure of Cassius’s confession, she’d also felt a quiet sense of being moved.

‘Did he… really trust me that much?’

She couldn’t accept that it was just because it was a secret that would eventually get out anyway. That wasn’t Cassius’s style.

Her cold, calculating teacher could easily shut people out if he wanted. Yet he had chosen to open up to her, and not just anyone. He’d given that trust to someone closest to him.

‘…This feels kind of…’

Weird.

Eki murmured to herself as she brushed her flushed cheeks.
