Eki looked between Cassius and the fairy with a conflicted expression.
Though the sudden appearance of the fairy had shocked her, seeing that tiny creature locked up made her feel strangely sorry for it.

Eki immediately cast a sleep spell.
The magic circle that descended above the fairy’s head was the fastest she had ever deployed in all twenty-seven years of her life.
Before long, the fairy swayed once and dropped to the floor with a soft thud.
The laboratory fell into silence. Only Eki, embarrassed and flustered, and Cassius, struck dumb with shock, remained standing there.
Eki swallowed hard and rose to her feet.
“Um, so…”
She forced an awkward smile.
“We were supposed to go see the flowerbed, right?”
“……”
“Should I just… go take a look on my own?”
“…Go ahead.”
And so, Eki left the laboratory, her steps stiff and awkward.
