Chapter 75
In truth, Eki wasn’t very shocked by Cassius’s feelings. If anything, it was only natural. Cassius might be a dragon, but he had said with his own mouth that he had a s*x drive. And if someone kept fiddling with him from the side, of course he would want to touch them back.
Even so, it was still just as embarrassing, so Eki swallowed dryly for no reason and stole glances at her master.
She could easily imagine herself losing to her desires and putting her hands on Cassius. But she couldn’t easily imagine Cassius losing control and having physical contact with her. Her master was always blunt and cold.
“Anyway, I won’t be approaching you for a while. You should do the same.”
Right. Blunt and cold like always…
“Pardon?”
Eki, who had been entertaining fantasies of going to bed with him, froze with a jolt at his next words.
“Why not?”
“Why not? Because I’m your master.”
“But you said you wanted to touch me. Then you can just touch me.”
“Are you crazy? Do you think I’m you?!”
Master, what a pretty way to speak.
When Eki lifted her eyes at him, Cassius shuffled back awkwardly. His gaze reflexively skimmed over her smooth lips, her slender white neck, her narrow shoulders, then further down. He staggered, then hurried away in a panic.
“I’ve said what I needed to say. Go finish drawing the magic circle.”
“Ah, wait. Master!”
Eki called again, but Cassius didn’t turn back. He stomped his way upstairs. He seemed to be heading for his room.
Eki dropped her shoulders and sighed.
‘Well, at least I figured out why he seemed in a bad mood. So I guess that makes it fine.’
She hadn’t known he was sulking because his desire had been exposed. Turns out her master had a cuter side than she thought.
But she would soon realize that this was her misunderstanding.
❖ ❖ ❖
Eki followed her master’s instruction and diligently drew the magic circle. She drafted, then drew, then drafted again. Unlike before, when she had to work day and night to meet the interim inspection deadline, this time she had plenty of time, so she clocked out right at six in the evening.
“Master, I’m heading out now.”
“Alright.”
Cassius didn’t even turn around as he kept staring at the parchment.
Eki walked toward the door, then stopped and glared at him. With a stare sharp enough to tingle someone’s back, he should have noticed something, but Cassius kept his nose buried in the parchment.
“Master.”
“…What.”
“What happened to my fairy?”
“Strictly speaking, it’s not your fairy. It’s a fairy born from your dream.”
“Whatever. What’s it doing? Can I go see it?”
“No.”
Eki’s lips stuck out.
“Why not?”
“I have research to do.”
“…You’re not dissecting the fairy or something, right?”
“What nonsense are you saying.”
Even though she said something that should have annoyed him, Cassius still didn’t look back at her. Eki hesitated, then spoke again.
“Then do you want to have dinner together?”
“…No need.”
“You said you’d eat with me next time.”
“It’s not mealtime yet.”
Eki’s eyes narrowed thinly and her cheeks puffed up in irritation.
It had already been four days since Cassius declared he wouldn’t approach her. Unless it was a work-related question, he kept distance with a cold ‘You don’t need to know.’ Now he was even rejecting simple invitations to eat together.
‘It’s not like I asked him to strip and take me then and there.’
The flowerbed is full of blossoms. Do you want to go see it? Do you have time after work? Let’s talk for a bit.
Eki had made countless simple requests like that, things they could have easily done together, but Cassius brushed off every one of them. She wasn’t even asking to touch his damn dragon d**k.
So this is what he meant by not approaching for a while?
How could he ignore a precious disciple he had lived and worked with for years just like that? And right when she thought they had finally gotten closer.
‘I thought he felt better. Something really isn’t wrong, is it?’
The strange low mood had begun right after he took the fairy away. So that had to be the culprit. But Cassius didn’t say a single thing regarding the fairy, not even the first syllable of its name, and even when she asked he didn’t give her proper answers.
‘Or maybe I did something wrong again.’
Her sulking didn’t last long. Eki stared blankly at Cassius’s well-shaped back, then eventually turned away. No matter how long she aimed her gaze at him, her master wouldn’t look back, and her strength ran out.
“…I’ll get going, then.”
So she trudged out of the laboratory.
