The flash faded soon enough. When Eki peeked her head out from her master’s arms, she noticed her left arm felt strangely heavy.

But something was strange. Normally he would have exploded in outrage and immediately stood up, but Cassius was completely frozen, unable even to groan.

Eki swallowed and looked down at Cassius, who was pinning her beneath him. Cassius too stared down at her, his adam’s apple shifting hard, his arms caging her in.
