Chapter 79
But she couldn’t do that when it came to bathing.
It’s really unbelievably huge.
This was only her second time coming into Cassius’s bedroom. And stepping into his bathroom, a profoundly private space, was of course a first. Part of her awe came from that, but most of it was because the bathroom was far more luxurious than she ever could have imagined. Eki’s eyes went as wide as lanterns.
Every wall, floor tile, and even the bathtub was made of shining white marble, and elegant, simple relief patterns were carved here and there. There were also magic circles with ornate designs whose purpose she couldn’t guess.
‘If possible, I’d like to send Master outside, but unlike a toilet, the bathroom is too big to push him out of.’
Cassius had already washed earlier that night, so he had been clean when he came to her room. But after she had fallen on the dirt outside and again inside the tower, she couldn’t avoid washing again. In the end, Eki had no choice but to bathe alone in the huge tub while Cassius stood with his back turned.
“But Master, why is your bathroom so big? Anyone would think you’re the emperor or something.”
“…Shut it. Just wash quickly and come out.”
“Okay. Oh, what should I use to wash my body? Can I use what’s in that container?”
Cassius let out a deep sigh. Still awkwardly standing, he folded his arms.
“How am I supposed to know what you’re pointing at.”
“The blue container. The glass one. Um… it has ancient script on it.”
“You still can’t read ancient script? Honestly. I told you so many times to study…”
“Master. You said I should hurry up and wash. Just tell me which one it is.”
“…Use the one next to it. That one will do.”
“Okay.”
Eki opened the lid and scooped out the pearly cream inside, rubbing it on her body to make foam.
Ah. This is Master’s scent.
So this was the fragrant smell she always caught from him.
“I knew it. You’ve been using fancy soap without telling me.”
When she muttered under her breath, Cassius’s head twitched as if he might turn around.
“What was that?”
“Nothing.”
“Stop fooling around and come out.”
“Alright. Stop rushing me.”
She didn’t know why he was so irritable today. Was it because she was using his bathroom?
Cheapskate.
Eki stuck out her lips without thinking.
Even if she pretended not to care, she was just as embarrassed to be using her master’s bath. She told herself to wash as fast as possible, yet her hands slowed every time Cassius’s scent drifted over to her.
She sniffed her own arm secretly, smiling to herself.
The fairy, after enraging both of them, had been thrown back into the glass jar. But with Eki’s mediation, it would be allowed to move freely around the tower starting tomorrow. In exchange, Eki made the fairy promise one thing.
‘From now on, don’t ever use your power to put me or Master in trouble again.’
‘Even naughty things count as trouble?’
‘U-Um. Yes. Those count too.’
‘Hmm… fine. As long as you let me out!’
The fairy could have escaped again on its own if it used its power, yet it accepted Eki’s demand without hesitation.
Maybe because it’s a pure lifeform.
Or maybe she should say stupid instead of pure, but in any case, she planned to watch the fairy carefully so it wouldn’t pull another stunt like today.
Eki blankly pushed back her damp hair, then glanced at the shelf again.
“Master, which one do I use for washing my hair?”
Cassius sighed again.
“W-What… Fine. I’ll study ancient script diligently starting tomorrow.”
“…Use the one on the far left end.”
“Okay.”
But her hand couldn’t reach the end of the shelf.
When Eki stretched out her left arm, the transparent chain rattled and pulled Cassius’s right arm along with it. He staggered hard and scolded her.
“Eki, you’re dragging me too!”
“I’m sorry. But the shelf is too far…”
This won’t work. She’ll just have to step out of the tub.
