Chapter 75
The savory smell of frying potatoes in melted butter filled the air.
In the meantime, Luna prepared spoons and forks on the table. The thought that soon there would be another set of baby utensils on the table made her smile with pride.
Kadan served the creamy potato soup, with cheese stretching beautifully, into a wooden bowl and placed it in front of Luna.
Kadan didn’t forget to take the freshly baked bread out of the oven, cutting it into bite-sized pieces.
Luna dipped a chewy piece of bread into the soup and took a bite. The savory and slightly salty flavor awakened her taste buds.
“This is really delicious, Kadan.”
Luna smiled brightly as she started eating the soup.
In the early stages of her pregnancy, Luna suffered from severe morning sickness. She even vomited the water she drank, and her already fragile body gradually grew weaker.
Kadan became anxious. He relentlessly urged the doctors every day, but no solution seemed to work. A few days later, Luna, with dry lips, finally said the first food she wanted to eat.
“I’m craving the meat stew you made for me in the cabin.”
At those words, Kadan rushed to the palace kitchen and grabbed a knife. Not only that, but he even built a small cabin in the garden. He wanted to vividly recreate those past memories for her.
Since then, Luna spent a lot of time in the cabin Kadan had built. Miraculously, she didn’t suffer from morning sickness when she was there. She finished every meal Kadan made for her.
It wasn’t just her body, but her heart felt at ease. Luna’s body gradually recovered with Kadan’s care, and she had gained weight in a healthy way.
“Kadan, your cooking is so good that I’ve gained a lot of weight.”
Luna sighed, having finished her bowl.
“No, it’s perfect.”
Kadan gently brushed the soft, fuller cheek of Luna with the back of his hand. His gaze seemed as sweet as honey.
“But recently, the maternity clothes that Washud sent don’t fit.”
“Washud never had a good eye. She probably misjudged your measurements.”
“I sent the measurements myself.”
“Then she must have misread the numbers.”
As Kadan gently caressed Luna’s face, his hand slowly moved down. He lightly squeezed her soft arm before placing his hand on her fuller chest.
“You’re beautiful, Luna. So incredibly beautiful.”
Kadan softly traced her chest, and Luna blushed, quickly stopping his hand.
“People are watching.”
Though they were alone in the cabin, the situation outside was different. The guards had surrounded the cabin. Through the window, Luna could see the strong figures of the guards.
“They’re not watching. They know their lives are precious too.”
“But, yesterday too…”
Luna bowed her head as memories of last night flooded back.
Too embarrassed to meet his gaze, but instead found herself staring at the conspicuous bulge straining against his trousers. The phantom pleasure of that massive heat moving inside her last night still tingled across her skin.
‘How shameful—having such lewd thoughts while pregnant!’
Her eyes darted to the walnut floors again. The freshly waxed surface Kadan had polished yesterday gleamed underfoot, but all she could see was the ripple of his back muscles flexing as he’d worked—like a living painting come to life.
She swallowed thickly.
“What’s that look on your face? Trying to tease me on purpose?”
Kadan tilted her chin up. Her flushed cheeks and eyes made her look like a startled rabbit.
“N-no thoughts at all!”
Her lie was completely transparent. That glazed look could only mean one thing.
The woman who’d once been so bold with the simple forest keeper now acted restrained after marriage. No doubt those stuffy ministers had been whispering about virtue and propriety in Luna’s ear.
“Luna. I want you thinking only of me.”
Kadan sighed slowly.
He knew it wasn’t normal. To be constantly hungry of her swelling body.
However Kadan loved her changed body so much. After those months being separated, imagining her swollen with his child, had clearly twisted something in him.
“I always think of you.”
Luna murmured shyly. The shy curve of her lashes and pink-tinged gaze made his pupils darken.
Damn it. Kadan quickly lowered his head and crushed his mouth to hers. His tongue dug without any leeway.
Kadan devoured every gasp and saliva.
Luna gave weak pushes against his chest but Kadan only gave her a moment to breath but didn’t stop. His hand grabbed her nape tight..
‘If I want to calm him…’
Luna’s tongue flicked against the thick muscle exploring her mouth. Kadan’s tongue that had been coiled inside paused, then retreated slightly. He seemed to enjoy Luna’s clumsy lead.
She traced his teeth playfully before sucking his lower lip like candy. Only then did Kadan’s grip on her nape loosen.
Luna took a deep breath through her slightly parted lips.
