She had expected a fierce face, but he was a handsome man with a cool demeanor. The wolf emperor appeared tall, and his build seemed proportionally large, but to Elena, who had imagined a massive monster, Emperor Lucael Rodelius gave an impression completely different from her expectations. His eyes were cold and black, but his gaze was warm and his voice gentle.

“Princess Elena?”

“Y-Yes? Yes! Y-Your Majesty!”

“Hahaha. There’s no need to be so frightened. I suppose the princess is terrified because of rumors about me being a merciless tyrant.”

When she came to her senses, Elena found herself sitting across from the emperor at a table in a luxurious drawing room.

Elena merely smiled in response.

Looking at the emperor before her, who was being so kind and gentle, Elena recalled what Queen Astie had told her.

‘Is this really the same emperor who would drive not only families but direct relatives and entire races to extinction if they crossed him even slightly? He doesn’t seem that way at all. But Queen Astie wouldn’t lie to me. Is he acting in front of me?’

As her thoughts deepened, she felt a headache coming on.

“Ah…!”

“Princess? I should call the royal physician right away…”

“I-I’m fine, Your Majesty. It’s just my first time riding in a carriage for so long.”

“Oh dear, then you should rest. Here.”

As the wolf emperor rose first and extended his hand, Elena carefully placed her hand on his.

‘Her hand is so small. It seems like it would break if I applied even a little pressure. And why is her skin so soft?’

‘Why is he kneading my hand like this?!’

As he massaged the hand he was holding, Elena felt goosebumps all over her body. Lucael, who had been unconsciously kneading her small hand, stopped walking when he saw Elena trembling with her tiny body, clearly tense.

“Then, may I continue touching it?”

Forcing a laugh, Elena was led by the emperor’s hand until they stopped in front of a room. She merely nodded when told that this would be her room from now on.

“I decorated it myself for the princess, and I hope you like it.”

“Do you like it?”

“Y-Your Majesty. Is this room really for me to use?”

“Of course. Everything in this room belongs to Princess Elena. While you were coming here, I personally selected everything with you in mind. From clothes to shoes, furniture and wallpaper. Everything.”

Elena bowed her head in gratitude at the emperor’s words, which seemed to seek praise.

“Princess.”

“Yes.”

“Though we are not yet married, you will soon become the Empress of this empire.”

“Yes.”

“As my eternal companion and the mother of the Rodelius Empire, never bow your head to anyone. Not even to me.”

“But Your Majesty is the emperor of this empire.”

The emperor smiled gently and extended his large hand. Elena flinched.

“I hope you won’t fear me. I have no intention of harming the princess. Rather, I only wish to love you abundantly.”

“L-Love…”

“Yes. Love. The moment I saw your portrait, I felt it was fate. I never thought I would say such things, but I fell in love with Princess Elena at first sight and that’s why I brought you here.”

Hearing only this, the Rodelius Emperor seemed like a romantic man.

‘Then why send such a threatening letter in the first place? If you fell in love at first sight, you could have just said so.’

Since the threatening letter sent by the emperor and the words spoken by the person himself didn’t match at all, Elena couldn’t help but let out a short, incredulous laugh.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“I promise you this. I will cherish you and make you the happiest woman not just in this empire but on the entire continent, and ensure you are honored as a noble woman, an Empress.”

“So I hope you will not bow to anyone and show dignity as the Empress of Rodelius.”

“I will do so.”

Elena slowly nodded in response. Seeing the emperor smile gratefully, she felt her heart pounding intensely.

“I’ll take my leave now. Rest well, and let’s have dinner together.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Ah, and about the lady-in-waiting who will serve you. The daughter of Marquis Alexia, who escorted you here, will serve you starting tomorrow.”

“I see.”

“She’s a young lady who has great interest in you, even collecting your portraits, so you should be comfortable having her by your side. Still, if you feel uncomfortable, please tell me. I’ll place a maid from your homeland by your side.”
