Chapter 55
Why is kissing even coming up here? Because I’ve been asking to kiss him so often lately?
Abel only had a moment to think Felix’s answer was strange before asking in confusion:
“Why? Talking is better than kissing.”
Wouldn’t most people choose a conversation over kissing someone they disliked?
But Felix let out a scornful laugh, dismissing Abel’s common sense.
“If I had to talk to you every single day, I’d lose my mind.”
More accurately, he was saying that Abel was the abnormal one, the person completely devoid of common sense.
Faced with such a blunt assessment, Abel fell silent.
Felix looked at him coldly as he continued:
“No matter what I say, you’ll do whatever you want in the end. You’ve never been rejected before. You’ve always gotten everything you’ve wanted. To you, the only thing that truly matters is your own feelings.”
Felix’s icy gaze swept slowly over Abel from head to toe.
“But this time, you’ll never get what you want.”
What should he do? Should he even kneel?
Abel recalled what people who had begged for his forgiveness usually did in the end.
“You may be able to force me, but you’ll never make me return your feelings.”
Before Abel could move, however, Felix abruptly brought the conversation to a close, reaching a conclusion all on his own.
“I’ll do as you wish. I’ll kiss you once a day, but there will be nothing beyond that.”
It was a direction Abel had never anticipated.
“You have my word.”
Abel had kept bringing up love and kisses.
But that was only because those were the only topics that still seemed capable of getting a reaction out of Felix.
He had never meant for it to become a choice between one or the other.
Abel decided he had to stop Felix before he ran too far with this on his own.
“Felix, you’re too angry right now to think clearly…”
Once he calmed down, Felix would definitely regret this, so Abel needed to stop him before it was too late.
Before Abel could even finish speaking, Felix pressed their lips together.
Abel’s first impression was simple. It hurt.
Before the sting could even fade, something soft slipped between his parted lips.
Felix’s eyes were tightly shut, his long eyelashes trembling faintly.
The sensation of their tongues meeting was unfamiliar.
The feel of something warm and pliant that wasn’t his own moving clumsily through his mouth wasn’t particularly pleasant either.
Neither was the lingering pain where their lips had first collided against his front teeth.
And yet…
Everything else overwhelmed Abel’s senses.
Their uneven breathing. The wet sound of mingling saliva. The firm grip holding his face. The clean scent of soap mixed with the grassy fragrance so common among the clergy.
And the beautiful blue eyes that slowly came into view. Had he ever been this close to Felix’s eyes before? That vivid shade of blue etched itself deeply into his mind.
As he stared blankly into them, every sensation he had felt only moments before intensified. Their increasingly unsteady breaths. Their lips meeting again and again in lingering contact. His own scent mingling with the faint fragrance of grass.
Then, the instant their eyes truly met… Felix shoved him away with force.
Rubbing his aching shoulder, Abel looked back at Felix, who was glaring at him fiercely.
As always, his face was beautiful.
The hostility directed toward him was familiar as well.
But those reddened lips, glistening with moisture…Those he had never seen before.
He had really kissed Felix.
Abel was bewildered. This wasn’t how he’d imagined things would go.
Still, this had been their first kiss.
He had already decided to count the last one as nothing more than a peck.
And if that had only been a peck, then the one he had shared with Felix before returning to the past had been a peck as well.
Having reached that conclusion, Abel gingerly touched his swollen lip, which had begun to ache where it had collided with Felix’s teeth.
“Felix, you’re not very good at kissing, are you?”
Even though it had been Abel’s first kiss, he could tell that much.
Felix’s tongue, clumsily sweeping through his mouth, had been awkward and uncoordinated.
Yes. There was no doubt about it. He was inexperienced.
“Why are you so bad at it?”
With a face like yours?
Looking up at Felix in genuine confusion, Abel saw that the skin beneath Felix’s eyes had flushed red.
Without a word, Felix turned sharply and walked away.
Since they’d kissed, did that mean he wasn’t going to talk anymore?
Left alone in Felix’s private sanctuary, Abel looked around, puzzled.
“Hm.”
