“Stealing other abilities is impossible unless you’re a power wielder.”

I kept my face blank and my mouth shut.
I reminded myself of the fact that revealing I was a power wielder would mean death at the hands of the sect.
Enrique had found me out.
Of all people, why did it have to be him catching on? Who knows what he’ll demand as leverage now!

He hushed me, his hand covering my mouth as my scream was about to escape.
There was a sizzling sound as sparks flickered from the control collar around Enrique’s neck.
He extended his hand, creating a long path of ice, and we slid down it, gliding swiftly like we were on a water slide at an amusement park.
We landed in a nearby thicket, Enrique still holding me as we gently touched down.
Looking back, the ice path had already disappeared.
“You killed someone, absorbed their ability, didn’t you?”
He asked with a hint of excitement in his voice.
Could he have created this situation to confirm it?
He definitely knew the answer already.
There was no point in denying it since I didn’t have the power to kill him.
I nodded hesitantly.
“It’s not exactly the same as a regular ability…”
He ran his fingers through my hair as he asked,
“So, can you steal divine power too? You’re a dual wielder, right?”
The soft, slightly red eyes and his languid voice were disorienting.
Should I tell the truth?
I can’t fully trust him yet.
“I don’t know if I can use it. I haven’t awakened yet.”
I trailed off, leaving my answer vague.
I hadn’t even awakened, yet I was already acquiring powers. It’s like learning to teleport before I’ve even learned to walk.
He gave me his characteristic calm smile.
“I just thought it might be better for me to be purified by you rather than the saint.”
“Why me?”
“She’s horrible.”
His voice dropped to an icy tone.
Why did he have such a strong reaction to the saint?
That level of rejection was practically a trigger for him.
I kept silent and stared down at my feet.
Enrique’s gaze followed mine, persistently.
“So now, you can kill the saint, right? You could finish her off with your own hands.”
His voice floated eerily, sending chills down my spine.
He sounded like someone who was truly desperate to kill her.
If Justina dies, they’ll be as good as dead too.
In the original story, they didn’t kill her.
They just locked her up… well, I’ll stop my thoughts there to preserve the beauty of the memory.
Wait a minute. Doesn’t this mean the obsession flag might point toward me?
I’m an extrovert; I hate being confined!
But his feelings seem more like hatred and disgust. As long as I cooperate, I doubt I’ll meet the same fate as the original Justina.

It’s better to be honest at this point.

Enrique glanced down slightly, tugging at his lips.
“No wonder Johann acts so strangely around you.”

Suddenly, everything Johann had said to me started to make sense.

Enrique tightened his arm around my waist as he asked.
