Chapter 17
Doing something hidden from others’ eyes usually meant that something wasn’t honorable. Because it was hard to show openly, it often took place in damp shadows, in silent spaces, in secretive gaps.
Chup. As their tongues, covered in each other’s saliva, parted, a moist sound followed. Already having rubbed until her lips were swollen, Hitaon still seemed unsatisfied, catching her lower lip between his teeth.
Luirene, who had now learned the knack of using her tongue, stuck hers out and licked. He let out a languid moan.
“You lick like a kitten.”
“I learned it from the young master.”
“Do I move that cutely?”
“…What’s cute about this?”
“If you’re asking even though you know, you’re in a class of your own.”
He bit her jawline, then buried his face in her neck. The tongue that had been moving between their lips just moments ago traced a long line up her sensitive skin.
Luirene moaned softly and gripped his shoulders. Hitaon, perched on the edge of the bathtub, spread his wide thighs and pulled her tight against him.
Today’s secret meeting place was where they’d been visiting most often lately—the bathroom attached to the former Marchioness’s bedroom.
The first time he’d brought her here, she’d been so flustered her face burned, but now, having grown reasonably accustomed, she leaned against the tub and kissed him, exchanging saliva as if it were nothing.
It would be a lie to say she wasn’t bothered by the fact that the old lady who had shown her kindness lay sleeping just outside the door. But when she was like this with Hitaon, even that discomfort transformed into a strange, perverse thrill that scratched at her insides. It felt like she’d developed a very bad habit.
“Ah… Young master.”
Her posture broken, Luirene found herself almost straddling his thigh, her head tilted back. Hitaon, who had been holding her waist, had somehow slipped his hand beneath her skirt and was touching her bottom. His fingers traced the crease of her backside, as if about to cross a dangerous boundary.
Even through her undergarments, his touch was too bold to hide. Each time, Luirene’s body jerked—and then she felt his e******n, heavy against her lower belly.
“Are you wet?”
The man’s voice, his c**k straining fit to burst, was infuriatingly composed.
“I don’t, don’t know… ngh.”
The things a man and woman did when meeting alone in secret couldn’t possibly stop at kissing. Indulgence gradually escalated. Hitaon was the type who moved to the next stage with such natural flow that when he first fondled her b*****s, it happened so seamlessly between kisses that Luirene didn’t even realize her top buttons had come undone until her n****e was pinched.
He’d made her n*****s so sensitive that just kissing him made the tips tingle, and now he was aiming lower.
But he hadn’t reached there yet. She could surrender fully to pleasure when it came to kissing and her b*****s, but when it came to the next step, a subtle hesitation crept in. Instinctively, she knew that once she crossed that line, there was no going back.
And hanging onto that line was a difficult emotional question she hadn’t had to confront before. The end of carnal desire required courage that mere curiosity couldn’t fill. It involved the future, not just the present.
In other words, she needed to confirm whether she liked him enough to stake an uncertain future on it.
It was laughable that she was only now wrestling with this dilemma after having already done plenty of things that should be reserved for lovers, but it was still a problem she couldn’t overlook. Distinguishing whether what drew her was him or the thrill of sneaking around with him was crucial.
When she was with Hitaon, her body temperature ran hot, but that was a natural physical response to any s****l act. Her heart pounded because she felt specially treated compared to others, but that could just be anticipation of the pleasure he might give.
Though carnal love was considered a branch of pure love, she first needed to determine whether this feeling could even be called pure love.
Today again, no answer came.
When Luirene shook her head, showing her hesitation, Hitaon withdrew his hand without pressing further. Seeing him respect her unspoken decision, her chest ached with a helpless longing—clearly, simple fondness had long since been surpassed.
“Grandmother will be waking up soon.”
“If you said that to cool things down, it’s working.”
He seemed conscious of their location too; Hitaon made a face of open distaste. She laughed and headed to the washstand to tidy herself.
Standing before the mirror, she was smoothing down her hair when she caught sight of Hitaon sitting on the edge of the tub, watching her at his leisure. He rose and came to her. Bracing his arms on either side of the washstand, he caged her in and planted a soft kiss on her earlobe.
