When he brought a few guides along, it was already too late.
Even guides with normal hearing could clearly hear what was happening inside—the sounds were blatant.
Adrien Brillante, an esper renowned for her great fame and authority, was known for not coveting guides. No one expected her to spend such an intimate time with a guide right from the day she was assigned.
Curiosity soon took hold. What kind of person could be the guide who melted an esper like a fortress? Hearing the man’s thrilling moans through the walls, it was clear he wasn’t ordinary…
‘Do you really think I was the one who let him in?’
This was an opportunity. Bailey hurriedly changed his expression to a smile.
“I’m so glad you like him! As a fellow esper, I understand how important guides are. So, do you plan to entrust your personal guide duties to him…?”
“Well, we’ll see.”
“Then today should be for another guide…”
Suddenly, Adrien raised her hand, cutting off the conversation. Her gaze was fixed somewhere.
“Wait a moment.”
Frowning, Adrien began walking away.
“Ensign Samuel, push harder! Your body won’t break!”
The instructor cheered on Samuel, who was doing push-ups almost as intensely as an esper.
Because of this, the training grew even more intense. Samuel now ran laps around the training ground wearing a sandbag nearly equal to his own weight strapped to his abdomen.
“Slow! Go faster!”
Sweat poured down like rain, but he gritted his teeth and pushed on. Still, his speed didn’t improve.
Suddenly, his foot slipped. Misstepping, Samuel collapsed to the ground.
“Get up, Ensign Sam—”
“Stop.”
A cold voice silenced everyone’s eyes.
Adrien, with a face as icy as her voice, looked down at Samuel. He was soaked more than yesterday and staring blankly—an expression she found displeasing.
Guiding meant sharing one’s own energy. Though it seemed easy, it consumed a tremendous amount of stamina. It was standard for a guide who had imprinted to take a day off the next day.
Even when imprinting with an esper of the same level, this was true. So how much more so for Samuel, who’d been drained by guiding Adrien, an esper of far higher rank.
Unconsciously, Adrien’s eyes swept over his entire body.
The same body she had touched and tormented until worn out last night. Even yesterday, he was soaked with sweat, gasping for breath. She had been pleased by that sight, but today’s Samuel was annoyingly uncomfortable.
“Is there a problem with the training?”
If there was a problem, there were many.
She wondered if he might be bullied simply because he’d imprinted with her. But the instructor’s wide eyes suggested he was unaware of that fact.
Adrien stared hard at Samuel, then let out a slight chuckle.
“You’re very tight-lipped, Ensign.”
Adrien placed a hand on Samuel’s back. He flinched and met her eyes. The hot, damp sensation clinging to his sweat-dampened skin was dizzying.
At the same time, an uncontrollable wave of guiding energy surged through him.
Pausing briefly, Adrien pulled Samuel toward her.
“Giving a day off to an imprint guide is the rule. Remember that.”
“I will remember… what?”
The sternly answering instructor suddenly looked confused.
Adrien smiled, almost smirking, and led Samuel out of the training ground.
The training field fell into an unnatural silence. The remaining trainees exchanged looks, and then realization hit like lightning.
“Samuel was the guide who imprinted with the Commander last night?”
Peter burst out. His mind was piecing together Samuel’s recent behavior like a puzzle.
It was truly astonishing. ‘The Light of Justice’ imprinting—a rookie guide no less!
The training ground erupted with chatter.
“What was his level? There’s no gold among the new recruits, right?”
“He’s handsome, isn’t he? Maybe the Commander liked him because of that…”
A lieutenant, excitedly talking about Samuel, suddenly shut his mouth. His gaze was fixed and trembling.
“Who imprinted with whom?”
The voice was elegant, laced with innate arrogance.
A man and woman in uniform stood at the training ground’s entrance. The speaker was the blond man at the front. Someone who recognized him murmured.
“Captain Linton…”
The Empire’s most famous gold-level guide and Adrien’s only scandalous partner, Linton Vionne.
Known as the incarnation of an angel, his kind and holy beauty stiffened today. His fiercely burning blue eyes seemed ready to cut down anyone inside.
“Say that again. Who dared to imprint with our Commander?”
He was furious.
