Chapter 21
Curious what happens next? Read more here
It was the day after the fierce blizzard had finally ended. It had been a long time since she had seen the brilliant sunlight with her own eyes. Back then, she had no idea why her body felt so good…
‘If only I hadn’t completely lost my mind at that time.’
Or rather, if Samuel had said that he was the guide who came back and saved Adrien.
They probably would have met for the first time seven years ago. And Adrien would have discovered, for the first time ever, a guide who wasn’t repulsive.
Her heart ached as if it were falling apart. The suffering she had endured over the past seven years suddenly felt unjust. Adrien turned her head to look at Samuel.
“How did you do it?”
“Huh?”
“I asked how you saved me back then.”
Maybe she wanted some kind of reward. The question that felt immature and unpredictable, slipped out.
Samuel’s eyes flickered with confusion. He nervously swallowed and pursed his lips, clearly embarrassed.
“Try again.”
“Huh?”
“You gave me your first kiss, but I can’t even remember it, so it feels unfair.”
“…”
“So try again. This time, I’ll remember every moment.”
His embarrassed expression slowly crumbled, then his gaze hardened as he stepped closer.
“Then you have to lie down first.”
Samuel’s eyes were fixed on Adrien’s lips.
He gently pressed down on Adrien’s shoulder, laying her down on the sofa. Her short hair scattered, and the sofa sank slightly under her weight.
It was a position they hadn’t experienced the previous night.
“And then?”
“You have to close your eyes.”
Adrien smiled and closed her eyes. Watching her for a moment, Samuel leaned in slowly. His trembling lips brushed against Adrien’s.
Adrien held her breath.
The soft touch felt like a feather, then gradually pressed more firmly. The sensation of warm flesh sliding over her lips caused his mouth to part naturally. Their lips met, the membranes sliding smoothly together.
At the same time, guiding energy poured out like a waterfall. Adrien almost lost control. She hastily grabbed Samuel’s sleeve.
Each time their lips softly rubbed and overlapped, a rising heat made Adrien’s legs twitch involuntarily. Her hand holding his sleeve unconsciously traced over his body.
Samuel’s large hands cupped Adrien’s cheeks. As he turned his head, their tongues tangled more deeply. Every time Adrien’s body brushed against him, muscles bulged beneath his tight shirt.
The wet, sloppy sound of their lips touching filled the office. Adrien’s hands climbed up Samuel’s body, caressing his cheeks and soft ears.
Unable to quench her thirst, Adrien parted Samuel’s jaw. Her deepening gaze and the trembling tongue inside her mouth showed exactly what this esper wanted.
Suddenly, Samuel pulled away.
“Why?”
Not too far, but enough to feel a loss compared to when they had been breathing closely together.
Samuel’s eyes dropped to Adrien’s swollen, glistening lips. His green eyes glowed with intense heat.
“That’s all I could do back then.”
What? Adrien could have bet the entire office that it had been much more wholesome than that.
What was more ridiculous was Samuel’s attitude. Judging by his heavy breathing and flushed neck, this kiss hadn’t been boring at all.
So why now?
“…Get up.”
Guiding energy always had to be adapted to the guide’s comfort. It was a strict rule for symbiosis with a guide who had no supernatural powers and only an ordinary body.
They slowly got up. Samuel’s searching gaze fixed on Adrien adjusting her clothing.
“Can I check your necklace?”
“Wait… It’s a subtle color.”
Adrien held up her guiding necklace, mottled like an unripe green tangerine. Samuel’s disapproving gaze followed it.
“Sorry.”
“That’s not necessary.”
Perhaps because Adrien was his lifesaver, Samuel seemed unusually concerned about her guiding state.
That concern wasn’t bad. She even wanted to top off the guiding until it turned fully green—if only as an excuse to stay a little longer…
‘Am I crazy?’
Only then did Adrien grasp the edge of her drifting sanity and realize the situation.
Her neat plan to simply hold hands and receive guiding had collapsed, turning again into an intense, heated time.

Samuel smiled as he looked at the esper extending a hand.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Brenda.”
Brenda was a striking woman, her radiant smile accentuated by her dark skin and white teeth. Anyone meeting her might blush at her charm, but Samuel remained indifferent.
