‧₊˚ ☁️⋅♡𓂃 ࣪ ִֶָ☾.

I felt so miserable. The moment I opened my mouth and started crying, Killian grabbed my arm and suddenly my body was lifted off the ground. I thought he was going to pull me away, but instead he gathered me into his arms.

‘If I stop crying, he might let go.’

I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and cried even harder. Killian stroked me as if soothing a child, then pressed a kiss to my forehead and whispered,

“Let me do it.”

“Really? You promise? Really?”

Only after hearing his reassurance three times—enough to convince me it wasn’t a lie meant to abandon me—did I loosen my grip. Killian seated me on his lap and began pulling my clothes down.

“Ah… haah….”

He kissed and licked me as if worshiping my body. Even places that were usually numb turned into points of pleasure the moment he touched them, and I shuddered every time his lips or breath brushed my skin.

“Hah… it feels good….”

It really did feel unbearably good. Only my body did.

My heart felt like it was dying. What if this was the last time? The more fervent his touch became, the more violently my fear and grief of losing him surged.

“Ah— it feels so good! I feel like I’m going crazy!”

In truth, I couldn’t even fully give myself over to the pleasure. If he noticed, he might stop and start talking and have that talk. Terrified, I pretended desperately that I was overwhelmed with pleasure.

I rocked my hips against the fingers stirring inside me. The beast between his legs, starved for the sensation my movements promised, finally rose stiffly, trembling with anticipation.

Seeing proof that Killian hadn’t completely shut himself off, I cheered inwardly and quickly straddled him. The moment I tried to take him in, Killian attempted to pull back.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and dropped my full weight down. The thick length thrust deep inside me, hitting the end.

“Ugh!”

“Ah….”

I have to get pregnant.

Clinging to him like a snare, I squeezed and moved my hips violently. Soon, his eyes grew unfocused under the pleasure I was giving him. Yet every so often, reason flickered back into them, and that frightened me.

“Killian… hah….”

Still writhing desperately, I leaned to his ear and whispered the words he wanted to hear most, with all the desperation I had.

“The only man I love is you.”

In that instant, something in Killian’s gaze snapped. Like that night in the attic, he abandoned all reason and took me.

“Ah— ah— ngh—!”

It was the instant Killian seized my cheeks and kissed me fiercely. A voice from my memories thundered through my head.

“And now, the groom may… kiss the bride.”

Wasn’t that exactly what Killian had said to me today in the forget-me-not field? Yet the scene rising before my eyes wasn’t today—it was our wedding.

‘Did Killian say that at our wedding, too?’

That was supposed to be the priest’s line, not the groom’s. As confusion crept in, a hand wearing a wedding ring lifted the veil that had been hiding my eyes. At that moment, the version of me in the memory—who had kept her head bowed all along—finally looked up and met the groom’s face.

“Gasp—”

At the same time, I jolted back into the present.

‘Rupert?’

The man standing before me should have been Killian. But instead, it was the military police officer who had been chasing us.

‘Why—why is his face there? Is this… not a memory?’

The face of the wrong man drew closer. If this wasn’t a memory, I should have been able to pull away—but I couldn’t.

‘No.’

The stranger’s lips touched mine. My present self felt sick to the stomach, revulsion surging up my throat, yet the woman in the memory felt nothing at all.

‘Why? Why am I—why am I marrying that man?’

The woman in the memory offered no answer.

Boom!

Startled by the explosion outside the cathedral, I turned my head toward the sound. Beyond the towering stained-glass windows, a burning fighter plane spiraled down in a slanted arc. I couldn’t see where it crashed. The shoulder of the man in black clerical robes standing before me blocked my view.

Something about the priest felt wrong. He must have heard the blast, yet he didn’t turn around. He stood facing forward, as though he were looking only at me.

‘Why is he staring at me?’

When my eyes adjusted again to the darkness after the flare of firelight, I could clearly see the priest’s gloomy gaze.

And his face.

‘…Killian?’
