Because Harriet was a kind person by nature. Thanks to this contract, she had learned that Harriet felt a s****l attraction toward her, but….

‘He won’t perform penetration?’

She couldn’t know Harriet’s exact intentions for wanting only half-hearted s*x without penetration, but it could serve as evidence that he didn’t love her passionately. After all, if you love someone, shouldn’t your body be burning with desire to the point of death?

To Asha, who had learned about ‘love’ through provocative books and melodramas until now, love was naturally supposed to be like that.

However, since she couldn’t explain these inner circumstances to her brother, she kept her mouth shut, and Aswan burst into a hollow laugh. Aswan, having made an eccentric misunderstanding, pulled away as if he didn’t even want to be involved in a lovers’ quarrel. The sound of his disgust was a bonus. His sister, who had married off first, was truly something else when it came to making him cringe.

“Fine, fine. Let’s say he doesn’t like you.”

“No. What’s with that tone right now?”

An irritated Asha tried to argue with Aswan, but Aswan’s mind had long since moved on from listening seriously. Aswan brushed off Asha’s protest and instead pushed her.

“R-Right. You’re right, you’re right. Now, since you’re right about everything, just go back to Bellstein Castle.”

“Why does it suddenly end like—”

Asha showed a disgusted expression at the weird conclusion, but Aswan firmly pushed her toward the entrance.

“Now, now. You might have had your fun, but shouldn’t I get to enjoy the banquet now, too?”

“You can just keep enjoying it!”

“Are you crazy? How can I walk around with a drunkard left in the banquet hall and feel at peace?”

Asha, whose nose had turned red from the stinging alcohol, shut her mouth. A drunkard had nothing to say even if she had ten mouths. She argued and bickered afterward, but there was no way Asha could win a verbal battle against her chatterbox brother. Aswan, who eventually dragged Asha out and put her in a carriage, suddenly looked at her with a suspicious gaze. It was a ridiculous expression, as if he were holding back laughter.

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

Just as Asha narrowed her eyes at the sudden gaze, Aswan let out a chuckle.

“No… just know that it’s all thanks to me.”

“Thanks to what? Thanks for being kicked out of the banquet hall?”

“Forget it, let’s not talk.”

Asha tilted her head as if she didn’t understand, but Aswan only shook his head. Adding a spiteful remark at the end for her to wake up by splashing some cold water on herself, Aswan closed the carriage door just like that. He was as unlucky as ever.

Once the carriage started moving, a exhausted Asha slumped down onto the carriage seat. Between Beryl and Aswan, it felt as if a massive storm had swept over her. She tried hard to think of something, but everything was so bewildering that she couldn’t think of anything. Should she say she was just in a daze? The alcohol that hit her late also made her mind hazy.

Asha finally came to her senses somewhat around the time she entered Bellstein Castle and walked down the hallway.

Should I really splash some cold water on myself like Aswan said….

Asha considered extreme methods while dragging her indoor slippers. She knew it was unrefined behavior, but her body, exhausted from the alcohol, was drooping. Just as she was crossing the hallway in a state rather unsightly for a Countess, she spotted Harriet standing by the window.

Asha, who was heading toward him as if pulled by a magnet, suddenly stopped in her tracks.

The sunset of early summer poured over Harriet’s head as he looked out the window.

‘I’m telling you, the smell of summer bewitches people.’

The words a noblewoman had let slip earlier brushed past her ears.

The smell of summer.

A strange pleasure tickled the tips of Asha’s toes. It was a heat that had begun to spread strangely after she had captured his summer in her green eyes. Standing under the sunset, he made a person feel hot. Even though he was well-dressed, she wanted to touch the muscles that weren’t quite hidden. She wanted to take off the silver glasses perched on the bridge of his nose and meet his green eyes. There wasn’t a single place where desire didn’t burn.

While she was staring at him blankly, enjoying the rising pleasure, he felt a presence and turned to look at Asha. Upon discovering Asha, a bright smile spread across his face like paint.

Flinch.

A sudden, petty worry arose that she might look like a teenage child. No doubt her cheeks were completely red, and she was looking at him with hazy eyes. But even so, she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

After staring like that for a moment, the second she realized she looked like a mess, Asha quickly hid behind a wall. She could see him looking bewildered, but Asha ignored him.

What do I do! What do I do!

I like him this passionately, so why did I only realize it now? It was almost laughable how slow her intuition was. Thump, thump, her heart raced fast, and a mottled blush spread across both her cheeks. Not only was she embarrassed to face him, but she instinctively sensed that this massive emotion exceeded the range of what she could handle. What Asha chose was….

“Asha!”

Escape.

Harriet, who had been waiting only for his wife to return, had to face the back of his wife running away as if she hadn’t heard him.
