Chapter 53
Dozens of minutes after the maid had left, a small scuffle was heard from beyond the office door. It was a struggle between the maid’s plea for her to just take two more steps and Asha, who wouldn’t move like she was fixed in place.
After arguing back and forth for a while, Asha, who fell for the maid’s sympathy tactic that she would be scolded by the Count if this continued, finally opened the door with a cautious touch. She prayed that the door would at least open slowly, but the door made of Elphens mountain wood opened smoothly without a single creak. It was truly the work of a master craftsman.
“Harriet…?”
Asha stuck her head through the crack of the office door, intentionally making her voice sound dejected. Since her body, possessed by the desire to run away, strongly refused to enter, this was the best she could do.
However, into the eyes of Asha, who was scanning the office while already scared, came an unexpected sight. It was Harriet, wearing a softer smile than expected.
“Welcome, Asha.”
“Yes, Harriet. What did you call me for?”
Even though it was the face she liked the most, Asha asked while clutching the doorknob, as if she were still nervous. If Harriet told her to go back, she looked ready to turn around without even looking back.
But there was no way Harriet would let that happen. Harriet, with a smiling face, drove the point home.
“Asha, don’t stand there—come in and let’s talk.”
“Uuuh….”
It was a whine that didn’t fit etiquette, but Asha didn’t have the leisure to care about such things. She held the door still as if resisting and gauged Harriet’s reaction. Even so, the gaze she received was only a prompt to hurry and come in. At Harriet’s response, which seemed to have no intention of backing down, Asha finally stepped into the office.
A desire to find any excuse to flee surged within her, but as expected of the perfectionist Harriet, everything was flawless and beyond reproach. The high-end furniture that looked like it would slip if she touched it and the neatly prepared refreshments showed themselves off shamelessly.
At a single gesture from Harriet, the aides all left their seats. They were so fast and cold about it, it was as if they were people who had been waiting only for this moment. Asha, who was looking at the backs of those leaving with lingering eyes, was pulled away without even being able to resist at the hand that suddenly yanked her.
“Ah! Harriet!”
It was a sharp voice, unlike her appearance of cautiously gauging his reaction.
“The only person who would try to eat their husband alive just for sitting her on his lap must be you, my lady.”
“But this is the office, not the bedroom, so this kind of—!”
“Then is the bedroom okay?”
At his sly words, Asha rolled her eyes. The area from her temple to her ear clearly showed what she was thinking. Harriet mimicked a somewhat sweet voice and kneaded Asha’s stiff hand.
“Asha.”
“Yes?”
“Why are you so nervous? I don’t have any intention of eating you yet.”
The touch that tickled her fingertips and intertwined their fingers was soft. Her body, which knew how sweet this soft touch was, melted into a mushy state, contrary to Asha’s will.
“But since you suddenly called me.”
“Your husband is calling his wife—what are you so worried about? It’s not like you’re hiding something.”
“Hiding something….”
“Or did you do something wrong?”
“….”
Asha kept her mouth shut as if exercising her right to remain silent. Even so, it was clear that she was rolling her eyes and reassessing the situation. Keeping her mouth shut wouldn’t be the answer. Harriet, looking at Asha with dark eyes, handed over a document that was on the table.
“This is…?”
“Didn’t I promise to give you a lesson before? Since you even went so far as to suck my lower half with such sincerity, as your husband, I must repay you wholeheartedly.”
The hand stroking down her thigh inside her skirt was explicit. At the teasing touch, Asha’s thigh flinched involuntarily. But soon, Asha, distracted by the interesting contents of the document, stopped her slight resistance. It was only a good thing for Harriet.
Harriet leisurely kneaded the soft inner flesh of her thigh and looked down at the round head nestled in his arms. Perhaps because he could imagine the expression she would have while lost in thought, even though it was just a small back of a head, a dull heat bloomed below.
“This is data related to a dress shop?”
“Yes, it was the fifth business you started.”
“Uuugh.”
Asha groaned at the painful memory that was suddenly brought up. Since neither the reckless operation nor the haphazard funding was something to be proud of, Asha gauged his reaction and continued.
“Is this a time to analyze the reasons for my business failure?”
“Don’t worry, Asha. Your husband is a gentleman who knows how to cover for his wife’s flaws.”
“But right now, you’re the teacher.”
Harriet rubbed his lips against Asha’s cheek, which was retorting boldly. It was a dark-hearted action, subtly releasing his stirred-up s****l desire.
“I’m not sure. I don’t have a hobby for mating with my students. I’ll decline that position.”
