He, who wore a soft smile, said nothing. Her eyes locked with his. As the moment of confrontation continued, an out-of-place but instinctive question popped out.

“…You’re not going to let this slide, are you?”

“Yeah.”

It was a light answer, to the point that the silence until now seemed ridiculous. Asha also grinned, following Harriet. I’m screwed. Even at Asha’s smile, Harriet faced her without wavering. It was a gaze measuring how the prey would move.

“Hehe….”

Asha, letting out a faint laugh, turned her body around again. It was a perfectly calm action, enough to make one not notice anything strange. And then she began to run without hesitation.

Patter!

If I get caught, I’m dead. But if I don’t get caught, it’s all good, right? As for the police station incident, it’s something that would end somehow if she begged on her hands and knees. But if Harriet went to the bedroom first like this and discovered the box, it would truly be the end with no chance of recovery. Forget seeing his crotch, she would live a life rolling around in the palm of his hand!

Harriet followed behind Asha as she ran toward the bedroom. Unlike her, who was running like a dog, he didn’t show a hint of urgency, but for some reason, the distance between the two seemed to close quickly. Asha had no choice but to ignore the chilling sensation and run for her life.

Barely reaching the bedroom, she hurriedly flopped down under the sofa where she had instructed Cecile to hide the tools. Asha felt relief and joy at the fact that she could plan for another day as she heard Harriet’s approaching footsteps.

That was, until she checked the empty space.

“?”

Asha blinked.

They were gone.

The items Cecile said she would hide weren’t there. Only dust bunnies rolling under the sofa sent their regards to Asha. A chill ran down her spine.

“Are you looking for these?”

The sound of all sorts of items being poured onto the floor was like the sound of thunder. Asha, swallowing a gasp, slowly turned her head toward the sound. Her gaze, which had hit the tips of Harriet’s feet, slowly traveled up his legs and finally reached his face. It was an awkward movement that felt as if it would make a creaking sound. Harriet, who had lightly tossed the box, looked down at Asha. His massive shadow loomed over her.

“A faux phallus, lubricant. Haa… and a rope….”

As he murmured the words, he caught his breath for a moment.

“Even a surprise event like a fistfight with Viscount Serman. Truly, you are.”

Stopping his words, he slowly brushed his face with his hand. The dry sound of skin friction filled the small space between the two. How much that small sound could make a person’s flesh tremble. Even though his face was covered, she could vividly feel how angry he was. Now that things had reached this point, Asha knew instinctively.

I’m f****d.

That was the only sentiment Asha could produce. Her gaze, which had been wandering over his face, slowly landed on the rope sprawled on the floor. Moving her instinctively occurring thought into action happened in an instant. Asha stood up and approached him stealthily as he pressed his forehead. Though she feigned calmness, every single movement was incredibly awkward.

“….”

Asha carefully took Harriet’s hand and pulled it down, then wrapped the rope around both his wrists. Having failed to bell the cat in secret, she was being shameless enough to do it openly. The way she moved her hands nimbly while eyeing him as if asking for a break was beyond ridiculous—it was absurd.

After a few clumsy attempts, the rope was tied neatly. It had looked thick when she bought it, but sitting on his thick wrists, it looked pathetically thin. Maybe we can just let this slide and have a hot night. Asha’s small brain worked hard. Since it was such a simple thought process, it was read plainly by Harriet.

“Don’t even think about letting this slide.”

Slide—

Officer Melburne was wrong. He wasn’t a man who ripped ropes with pure grip strength… he was a man who could untie knots very easily. If he had ripped the rope apart, she would have blamed the limits of its durability, but he easily untied the rope she had tied tightly three times, leaving her with no idea where things had gone wrong.

“I’m sorry.”

Asha, quickly assessing the situation, apologized in a small voice. Now that the plan had fallen through, begging was her only way to survive. She tried to look pitiful in her own way, but he strode toward her fiercely. Asha, quickly backing away at the momentum as if he would devour her at any moment, exaggerated her whining.

“W-Wait a minute, if you approach so suddenly like this. Ack, I’m sorry for hiding it. Harriet! Aaagh!”

“It’s not like I’m going to eat you.”

“You are trying to eat me right now!”

Asha, about to be sent tumbling onto the bed, stubbornly grabbed Harriet’s collar and held on. It was a grip strength so tenacious that even Harriet was internally taken aback. Asha didn’t care whether what she was grabbing was his collar or his shoulders. She just grabbed whatever she could get her hands on and held on.

He was a man who desired her when she was down like a dog. Since she had done something seriously wrong, she couldn’t guess what kind of treatment she would receive.

At Asha’s fierce resistance, Harriet’s brow twitched. He should have thoroughly fixed her habit of resisting like a wild filly. It was a belated regret.

“Anastasia Halswein!”

“It’s Anastasia Bellstein! Ugh!”

He lightly brushed off Asha’s arms and threw her down onto the bed. Asha, whose face was thrust into the bedsheets in an instant, struggled, but the rope that had come to this house through Asha’s gold coins was used for an ungrateful purpose. The rope, which had looked thin on Harriet’s forearm, boasted its thick majesty once wrapped around Asha’s arms. Forget squirming—Asha, who could no longer move an inch, twisted her body like a live fish.
