Even after arriving at the cabin, Eren continued to plant kiss after kiss on Macy’s face. As the kisses deepened, it felt like the sound of the kiss might echo all the way to the stable, so Macy gently pushed him away from his chest.

“I… think you need to go now…”

Macy’s face flushed as her gaze darted around the room. Eren smiled softly and, with a gentle kiss on her cheek, pulled away.

“Eat well, sleep well by yourself.”

“Yes.”

“I’ll miss you, but I hope you’ll be fine.”

Was he really going to miss her? Or was he just pretending to be disappointed because of what Macy had said in the carriage?

His hand traced her ear before moving to rub her warm neck, and then he completely pulled away. The carriage he was in drove off over the hill.

Even though she was still wrapped in the warmth of the blankets, it felt like she was still in his arms, and her breath was warm.

‘So sweet…’

Eren’s behavior always left Macy confused. He was kind, and it made her think that maybe he liked her. His actions felt more affectionate than the words ‘I love you’ ever did. But perhaps this was just part of the act.

“I miss you…”

Even if she was being deceived, it didn’t change how her heart raced. Trying to analyze it was meaningless.

Macy stood there, quietly watching the carriage until it disappeared over the hill.

“Macy!”

At that moment, someone called her name in a hushed voice. It wasn’t just quiet; the voice carried some force behind it.

“Macy!!”

“Brother…?”

Turning around, she saw Yannick. He crouched behind the bushes, looking around before calling out to her.

‘So Yannick was really hiding, after all?’

Macy had heard from Eren that Yannick was lurking near the cabin, watching her. But seeing it with her own eyes had an entirely different impact. As soon as Macy spotted him, she staggered backward, feeling a sense of threat even from the distance.

When Macy started to head toward the cabin with a fearful expression, Yannick rushed out.

“Wait! I saw everything! I saw you and Duke Krygen kissing!”

Macy ignored him and grabbed the doorknob.

“I saw it all! You and Duke Krygen having a secret affair!”

Yannick shouted louder, his voice booming through the whole forest.

“What do you want?! Go away before I call the police!”

But Macy didn’t budge. In fact, it seemed that Yannick, startled by the lack of response, was the one who became flustered.

“Y-you’re really going too far now! Aren’t you even embarrassed?!”

He kept getting closer. In a hurry, Macy opened the door and locked it behind her.

Dia, who had been guarding the empty cabin, approached Macy.

“What’s going on, Macy?”

“Dia… It’s… it’s…”

“Macy!”

The doorknob rattled, and Yannick pounded on the door full of fury.

“What in the world… Who’s chasing you?”

“He’s my brother …”

“Your brother?!”

“Ugh… Is this door really sturdy? It’ll be bad if it breaks.”

The pounding grew more intense. Macy was anxious about the door potentially giving way and hurriedly dragged heavy pots and furniture in front of it with Dia’s help.

She had heard Yannick only patrolled around but never approached—yet here he was, charging after her as soon as Morgan was gone.

“Macy! Open this door! If you come back with me, I won’t tell anyone!”

“Just go away!”

“Let’s go home! Huh?! Macy! I’m sorry! Your brother is begging! Why won’t you even come out? I don’t want to spread bad rumors about you either! So just come out once!”

Begging? If she stepped out, she knew she’d be caught and dragged away immediately. From what she heard, Yannick seemed to be trying to lure Macy out under the pretense of her secret affair with Duke Krygen.
