Chapter 205
It wasn’t just one day or two days—it had been nearly a month of him relentlessly craving Macy without pause.
Moreover, the more he held her, the thirstier he became, as if this madness had no end in sight.
“I was wrong. It’s my fault! I’ll beg you. I’ll live as quiet as a mouse. I won’t do anything again!”
Macy’s desperate, tearful pleas came back to him in fragmented echoes.
“Eren… Eren, right? At least let me hear your voice… please…”
Trembling in fear, she begged to just hear his voice, but Rubens restrained her hands so she couldn’t remove the cloth and pressed down on her firmly.
Like a beast in heat, he lunged and violently pushed himself inside her, shaking her wildly.
“Ugh… uh…”
At some point, only painful moans escaped her lips. He couldn’t tell how long it had been going on.
She simply shook, shattered, and broke apart. Torn to pieces, she couldn’t even wriggle.
“Damn it…”
Surely this time she must be fed up with him. She must hate him deeply and never again utter that pitiful word—love.
That was exactly what he wanted. Rubens had always hoped Macy would abandon such weak and pathetic feelings.
But then why did this feeling rise inside him?
His heart twisted strangely, as if someone was wringing it out like a rag. He wanted to go back and check Macy’s condition with his own eyes, but his steps wouldn’t move in that direction. He didn’t have the courage to remove the black cloth.
What kind of eyes would Macy have when she looked at him after the cloth was taken off…?
His heart throbbed heavily and ached.
“And she was advised not to have any relations for the time being.”
“Got it. It’ll take some time for the wounds to heal, I guess…”
“It’s not that… The doctor said it’s still uncertain, so I was asked not to tell you yet.”
Kronen hesitated, looking a bit troubled.
“What is it?”
Seeing that serious expression, a deep frown formed on Rubens’ forehead.
“Your Grace, you’ve been taking the contraceptive pills regularly, right?”

She had a strange dream. It felt like a memory from the past, or maybe a confusing mix of past memories and current reality.
Long fingers gently traced her face—her forehead, eyes, nose, cheeks, and slightly parted lips. After a while, the hand moved down past her neck and slowly brushed her stomach.
Even though the touch was more cautious than anywhere else, the calluses on the palm made it ticklish.
A chill crept up on the parts the hand couldn’t reach.
“I’m cold…”
As she snuggled into his arms, half-pouting like a child, the man flinched slightly. The sound of his heartbeat felt warm and comforting.
Then, the hand around her belly pulled Macy’s head close. Thick blankets wrapped them snugly.
She remembered a night she could never return from—the cozy warmth was as comforting as the cabin bedroom that had turned to ashes, never to be revisited.

Macy gradually came to her senses. Her body felt heavy, as if soaked with water.
Her mind was so clouded that she couldn’t tell if this was reality or a dream.
How much time had passed? She lifted her eyelids but saw nothing. It seemed the candle had burned out, leaving the room in darkness.
Normally, Macy would have lit it again, but ever since the day she tried to stab herself with the silver candlestick, anything that could be used as a weapon had been moved out of her reach or taken away entirely, so she couldn’t light it.
She thought she might have dreamed something from the past while asleep—a dream of Eren holding her close as she slept…
‘That’s impossible.’
The Eren who held her was gone. Was there still some faint hope lingering inside her?
She felt ridiculous and pathetic. Letting out a bitter laugh, she was lost in self-mockery when the creak of the door opening caught her attention.
Slow and cautious footsteps belonged to the maids who had come to change the candle.
Soon, a faint light illuminated the room. They moved around, sweeping and cleaning as if Macy wasn’t there.
Since the room wasn’t particularly messy, the cleaning finished quickly.
Just as she thought they would leave after finishing their usual tasks, they handed something to Macy.
