Anna and Hils laughed heartily.
‘Head over heels…? Not quite.’

The difference was that now Eren would meet Macy’s conditions instead of his own.

“Where is the baby? Let’s go see!”
“Downstairs.”
“Really? Let’s all go. Macy, can you get down in your wheelchair? Or Anna, you bring the baby. No need for many people.”

Anna hesitated, watching Macy’s reaction.
“Macy, is it okay to bring the baby?”
Macy had avoided seeing her baby because she feared it would give her lingering attachment to life.
Since deciding to receive the Name treatment again, that fear had faded.
“Yes. Could you bring the baby to my room?”
“Okay! I’ll bring him right away! Adrian will be so happy to see his mom!”
Adrian was the name Anna gave Macy’s son since Macy hadn’t named him.
Anna happily ran off and soon returned with the baby. With Anna’s help, Macy awkwardly held the child with her weak arm.
The baby’s warmth was so comforting and gentle. The warmth spread like paint.
Though the baby did nothing special, he seemed to like people and smiled brightly.
“So cute!”
“Yeah…”
Tears, guilt, regret, longing, love, and tenderness — all the emotions Macy had held back surged.
Above all, longing was strongest.
The kicks in her belly and the cries echoing in the villa’s annex — no matter how much she tried to ignore them, a corner of her heart always ached to see her child.
For the first time, she felt grateful to be alive.
The baby felt precious, as if Macy’s endurance through hardships was all for this little life.

Macy blew gently on the baby’s body, and Adrian burst into giggles.

He was so cute and lovely that she couldn’t take her eyes off him.
‘But when he’s not smiling, doesn’t his overall face shape kind of look like Eren’s?’
Though still chubby from baby fat, his facial structure resembled Eren’s.
Their eyes — a mix of Macy and Eren — had an oddly intriguing quality.
‘He might look even more like Eren when he grows up…’
Biologically, Eren was the father, so some resemblance was natural, but Macy didn’t feel good about it.
She suddenly remembered a nobleman who abandoned his mistress and took only the child born between them.
‘I’ll never let him take this child.’
While Macy steeled her resolve, Eren suddenly showed up at her room.
He glanced briefly at Macy holding the baby before quickly looking away.
“When will you start the Name treatment?”
At first, she was wary when he said he’d raise the baby if the burden was too much, but Eren seemed uninterested in the baby.
Macy hadn’t agreed to the treatment yet, but pointing that out now felt strange.
Her friends were staying in the annex, and Macy was still holding the child…
“…Starting tomorrow.”
“You don’t seem busy, so why not start now? The sooner you get better, the easier it’ll be to hold the baby.”
Macy, already uncomfortable because her arm didn’t move well, couldn’t argue.
Anna tactfully took the baby from Macy’s arms and stepped outside.
“How will the Name treatment be done?”
“Like before — holding hands for two hours. No other contact without my permission.”
“Alright.”
“And…”
Macy nodded toward the white cloth on the nightstand.
“Please use this to cover Eren’s eyes.”
