“Therefore, I request the charges be changed to ‘Violation of Female Morality.’”
Macy was stunned by the unexpected turn of events.
“Plaintiff Macy Horton, are you the person who drew this painting?”
The judge asked, and Attorney Frederick looked at Macy desperately, hoping she would deny it.
“…Yes, that’s correct.”
But when Macy saw the next drawing Yannick handed over, she realized she couldn’t deny it.
“That’s the Name, isn’t it?”
There was a painting of a back with the name “Macy Horton” inscribed on it.
And the owner of that sculpted body was—
“Oh my… looks like she drew the Name master nude.”
It was Eren. People clicked their tongues disapprovingly. Macy felt ashamed to look at Eren.
The painting was drawn without Eren’s permission. Because of Macy, Eren’s nearly half-naked body was publicly exposed.
She slightly raised her bowed head and glanced over; Eren was staring at the painting with a somewhat indifferent gaze, as if it had nothing to do with him.
As if desperately trying to maintain cold reason in a moment of crisis.
That cold gaze soon fixed on Macy. Strangely, when their eyes met, the chaotic mess in Macy’s mind gradually found balance.
“…That wasn’t drawn from observation.”
Right. Macy did draw the picture, but she did not paint it while looking at Eren’s body.
“That is an imagined work. Only my name is written on the back, but it is not the body of my Name master.”
“That’s right. I understand that female artists study human anatomy by copying from anatomical books. That act does not violate the law, does it? Therefore, this cannot constitute a crime.”
Even the frozen Attorney Frederick gathered his composure and argued passionately.
“Are you joking? The name is clearly written there, and you say it’s not true? The scars and moles are in the same spots on every croquis. How can you call that imagined? If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable! Honestly!”
Yannick exaggerated indignantly, clearly aware of the crowd’s attention.
“That depends on the artist’s intent. She might have tried to depict the same body from various angles.”
Attorney Frederick immediately rebutted.
“Exactly, that’s impossible!”
“You should not think of Macy like someone like you. Didn’t you say yourself that Macy is a genius artist hailed as the brush of God?”
“What does that have to do with anything! You pompous fool who knows nothing about art!”
“Silence! Order in the court!”
As the argument threatened to escalate emotionally, the judge struck his gavel to intervene.
“Fine. If she’s a genius, it might be possible.”
“But that’s way too realistic. How can someone imagine that level of detail?”
The audience was confused. No one understood how things had gotten this far.
“Wow, what a body! Looks like something out of mythology.”
“Right? Is there nothing below? That upper body looks like it’d be something special!”
“You guys say anything! Haha!”
People made almost mocking remarks about Eren’s body painting.
‘Eren must be hearing all this too…’
Macy kept glancing at Eren, who was talking to Kronen.
‘What are they doing?’
Soon, Eren handed some documents to Kronen, who passed them to the court officials, and the officials whispered something serious into the judge’s ear while handing over the papers.
The judge’s eyes widened as the discussion dragged on. After pulling the documents from a brown envelope, the judge finally spoke with a heavy tone:
“Regrettably, Yannick Horton’s motion to amend the charges is denied.”
“This is unfair! Why do verdicts change mid-trial just because someone else interferes?!”
“Please calm down. Look at this.”
The judge held the newly received document for Yannick to see.
“This is an official notice that the law forbidding women from viewing male nudity in public is repealed as of today.”
“What… what is this…”
Yannick was too shocked to speak properly, and Macy’s eyes widened in surprise as well.
“Currently, Obelit is revising laws to eliminate gender discrimination and guarantee equal rights and responsibilities regardless of s*x. This law conflicted with social trends emphasizing egalitarianism and human rights, and so it has been repealed.”
“That’s ridiculous! It’s a conspiracy!!”
“Furthermore, this law has been discussed in parliament for a year and was officially approved today. This was not a sudden decision.”
A year ago… Eren had said he planned to find Macy’s name long ago.
