“Why aren’t you wearing what I gave you?”

“…What?”

The mention of the wedding ring caught her off guard, and she was momentarily flustered by his shamelessness. But she quickly narrowed her eyes and glared at him.

“I threw it away.”

His lips curved into a crooked smile. The brief grin on his handsome face seemed almost charming, but it was laced with something more.

As Suhyeon started to speak, Jeonghan’s voice overlapped with hers, cutting her off.

“Don’t even think about quitting to get out of this project. Your actions today are already suspicious enough, and there’s no need to add more fuel to the fire.”

Suhyeon frowned, trying once again to pull her hand free. Without much effort, Jeonghan held her wrist in place, tilting his head closer, their faces now dangerously near.

“Even if you switch companies, be ready to cross paths with me again, wherever you go.”

Suhyeon’s eyes widened in shock.

Jeonghan looked down at her fierce gaze with calmness.

‘Wherever you go, you’ll be entangled with me?’

He said in a low, menacing voice, finally letting go of her hand. Then, without another word, he turned and left the conference room before her.

As soon as he was gone, the tension in Suhyeon’s shoulders collapsed, leaving her feeling drained.

Suhyeon glared at the spot where he had disappeared, clenching her fist. Her heart was beating irregularly.

As she looked down at her wrist, which had been tightly held, she heard a voice calling her.

“Manager Seol Suhyeon?”

When Suhyeon raised her head, Jung Hyunwoo was looking at her with a face that seemed to ask what she was doing not coming over.

As she exited the director’s office, she saw the elevator door that Jeonghan was in closing just then.

She was angry with herself for freezing like a herbivore.

“Director Do Jeonghan’s atmosphere is really something else.”

Suhyeon snapped back to reality at Jung Hyunwoo’s voice and looked at him.

He also seemed very tired, as if he had been tense. He had appeared excited about taking on a major project in the meeting room, but it seemed he was more nervous in front of Do Jeonghan than expected.

Suhyeon replied, recalling the man who had just disappeared between the elevator doors.
