Chapter 153
Suhyeon briefly looked at the eyes that seemed to be gauging her mood and greeted.
“Hello.”
“Ah…… Hello, Manager.”
“Did you have a good business trip?”
She exchanged an awkward greeting and walked to her seat, noticing the employees avoiding eye contact.
As Suhyeon sat down, Bora approached cautiously, whispering softly.
“Manager, could I have a moment…….”
Suhyeon nodded at Bora, who was pointing outside with her finger.
Following Bora into the meeting room, Bora quickly spoke as she closed the door.
“Manager, are you okay?”
“What’s going on?”
Suhyeon’s question made Bora’s eyes widen in surprise.
“You don’t know yet?”
Suhyeon made a puzzled expression, as if she had no idea what Bora meant.
Swallowing nervously, Bora quickly pulled out her phone.
“Take a look at this.”
Bora accessed the company’s bulletin board on her phone and clicked on a post to show it to Suhyeon.
– Did you know the woman who divorced Cheonkyung’s Do Jeonghan works at our company? She’s a manager in the Strategic Business Division, Team 1—Seol – . Apparently, she joined last year. Didn’t she come here right after the divorce? I heard she lied about being pregnant to get married, got caught, hung on for a while, and eventually squeezed out a huge settlement. Pretending to be just an ordinary person is something else…… I just heard about it today and was totally shocked, but did everyone else already know?

Suhyeon let out a small sigh.
Seeing this, Bora quickly spoke up.
“Ma-manager, I swear it wasn’t me! I really didn’t tell anyone…….”
“I know.”
Suhyeon replied wearily to Bora, who was frantically trying to explain herself.
“Huh?”
Bora blinked, staring at Suhyeon.
“Don’t worry. I know it wasn’t you, Yoon Bora.”
“Really? Do you know who it was?”
“……Probably.”
It must be Seol Hana.
It wasn’t hard to guess. She had come here before just to spread rumors, and when things didn’t go her way, she had probably spread them herself.
Bora looked as though she might cry.
“How should I handle this? The rumor has already spread all over the company……”
Suhyeon said to Bora with a faint smile.
“Thank you for worrying about me. I’ll take care of it, so let’s go in for now, Ms. Bora.”
“Ah, okay.”
Bora followed Suhyeon, who was leaving the meeting room first, with a worried look in her eyes.
Even while working back in the office, Suhyeon could feel the gazes directed at her.
She could sense people writing messages to each other on their messengers, but she didn’t have the energy to care about it.
During lunchtime, Hyunwoo approached Suhyeon.
“Manager Seol, shall we have lunch together?”
“Sure.”
Suhyeon stood up from her seat.
As they left the office and headed to the elevator, a few male employees in the hallway pointed at Suhyeon with their fingers.
“It’s that woman.”
“Seol Suhyeon?”
“Wow…… I heard she even went on an overseas business trip with him last week.”
“Those people are unbelievable.”
Hearing their audible whispers, Hyunwoo frowned and glared at them.
Even though she flinched and tried to avoid it, Hyunwoo kept glaring, prompting Suhyeon to step into the elevator first and say,
“Get in, Deputy Chief.”
“Oh, yes.”
Hyunwoo quickly stepped in and, as the doors closed, looked at Suhyeon’s face and said,
“People really have too much interest in pointless things. Ugh. Let’s just go eat for now.”
“Okay.”
Without saying much, Suhyeon headed to the cafeteria with Hyunwoo.
Since there were many employees in the cafeteria, murmurs arose here and there as they noticed Suhyeon.
“It’s that woman?”
“Lying about being pregnant, wow, unbelievable. Just unbelievable.”
“Who is she trying to seduce here?”
“She’s really fallen far from Cheonkyung’s standards. Well, she’s already been used once anyway.”
Clang!
Unable to take it anymore, Hyunwoo slammed his spoon down hard.
The room instantly fell silent.
When Suhyeon, who had been eating quietly, raised her head, Hyunwoo grabbed the jacket and coat he had draped over his chair.
“Let’s go, Manager Seol.”
Hyunwoo grabbed the bill and walked quickly. Suhyeon put down her chopsticks and followed him out of the restaurant.
Even after they entered a quiet café with few people, Hyunwoo was gulping down the largest size iced Americano he had ordered.
Suhyeon, with an apologetic expression, said to Hyunwoo,
“I feel bad that you couldn’t even have a proper meal because of me.”
Hyunwoo, his face still showing signs of anger, replied,
“How is that Manager Seol’s fault? It’s those rude people who are to blame. Ugh, I lost my appetite too, so it’s fine.”
Despite his words, the way he filled up on bread ordered from the café made Suhyeon feel even more sorry.
